I hesitated for a second before leading Cody to my room. My mom wasn't going to be home 'til 9, which gave me 3 hours to get him out of my house so I didn't have to explain why some random guy was in my house.
My room was purple, with mostly black furniture. It was a mix of black and purple, my two favorite colors.
"I see you like the colors purple and black." Cody said. "Stating the obvious." I said glancing at him. "Yep."
I walked to my bed and sat down. Cody flumped down in the chair across from me. He just sat there for a moment, looking around my room. "So" He tried finding something to say, "Your parents not home?" "Nope." "Awesome!" I looked at him with a "WTF" look. "Rapist!" "No, I.. I didn't mean it like that!" He said realizing what he had just said. I laughed as he tried to come up with more words. "I just thought, you know, it's nice to be alone at times."
I paused for a minute. "Yea, it is." I lightened up a bit more than before, then sighed. Cody spun around in the chair (it was one of those spinny, office chairs) it hit the table and fell taking him with it. I just sat there for a second, dumbfounded before erupting with laughter. "Smooth move!" I said sarcastically.
"I know right?!" He joined me laughing and we laughed for a while before he got back up and sat down. He didn't attempt spinning this time, for fear of falling in front of me again.
Then, totally unexpectedly, a bullet hurled through my window! (Well, in my head, it did.) I knew this a second before it happened, so I just happened to scream "Duck!" at Cody, as I ducked and a bullet hit the wall right behind where his head was a second before. I heard tires screeching outside my house, and turned to the window just in time to see a black car speeding down the road.
