I played lots of disc golf on a couple of different courses today. During the day I played the eighteen basket hard course.
Here's a picture of a couple fawns I saw on the course today:
They were being followed closely by their mother. It was fun to talk softly to them like you would to a younger child. They kind of just look up and wonder what you are up to.
Here's the three of them as they wandered off:
I was having some troubles with my forehand flick shots today for some reason and a lot of them were going into the wrong places. Here's a nice view of the fall leaves and trees where the disc landed one time:
It was tough to get to that disc. Here's another view of where one landed too:
This time there was a clear view to the basket and I managed to sink it in from there. It was a rather difficult downhill putt of maybe somewhere around sixty feet. I was feeling pretty proud of making that one.
Usually I can get my drives closer than that but this was a par four and my forehand drives were not on target. In fact I was turning over my Witness driver completely so it landed on its top instead of rolling. This is a slower speed driver and I think I was over powering it.
There were a couple people sleeping on the ground near the first basket on the course. They were far enough off the course so I didn't worry too much about hitting them. Today there were no cars with people sleeping in them so that was good. It gets tough to play the course if you are worried about hitting parked cars.
In the evening my son and I played another nine basket game. I scored even for the round and won.
On one of the throws I was trying out the new Wraith disc I found earlier and tried to change my throwing form just a bit. I was watching some tips by one of the pro disc golfers and he suggested planting your foot out to the left more at a ninety degree angle.
So here I was getting ready to throw oh maybe five hundred feet or so like Simon Lizotte but... Between the new unfamiliar disc and trying a different form, my shot shanked out really bad to the left. I usually plant my foot much differently and I kind of figured out why I like doing it that way. The rest of the round my ankle was tender and my knee felt like it wasn't really happy with things either. Nothing serious at all though, so no worries.
I'm thinking that next time perhaps it might be best to not try out a new form on a full power drive on an unfamiliar disc, lol.
Having thrown it just a few times I've noticed that the new Wraith disc I found seems a little understable on a close to full power throw as compared with some of the other distance drivers I have. Its qualities fit in nicely between the other discs in my bag and I like the feel of the plastic.
