I recently read a post that says, "I hope you go out in the sun and live a little." Well, to give you a little context of what the post is about, the post I read talks about enjoying one's youth because one day you may be 17 and the next day you're 27. Indeed, time is fleeting and we will suddenly wake up one day and we don't get to enjoy our youth as much as we can because we will soon be preoccupied with a myriad of responsibilities. With that, lately, I have been making a decision to live and just enjoy life.
Last Saturday, I started the day a bit early since my friends, @asasiklause, @tanawabai, and @dzeizon, went to the city to play badminton together with our other neighbors. I actually woke up an hour later than what we initially agreed on but thankfully I was able to arrive at the venue together with @tanawabai. Hours before I left the house, I was actually having second thoughts about joining them for a few badminton games because I was quite lazy to get up but good thing I made the decision to join them since I have dedicated my weekends for my mental well-being.
It was quite a busy weekend for me because I also had to prepare for my oral revalida which is like an oral examination where I need to present a case regarding a certain condition like for instance Stroke, Spinal Cord Injury, or Fractures. My feelings of anxiety actually intensified over the weekend but thankfully I spent most of the day with my friends and somehow it alleviated my anxiety.
After a sweaty badminton game, we changed and freshen up since we were meeting with some of our Hive friends, @explorewithsasha and @itsmiessyonpeakd. I have been looking forward to meeting them and having a get-together with them because it has been months since I last got to bond with them. For the past months, I haven't been able to attend meet-ups including the Christmas party due to academic obligations but since I chose to say yes more often these days, I would definitely say yes whenever I get the chance to hangout with friends.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, I was perplexed to see that we were the only customers there which was very unusual because it was a weekend. The times really changed.
We had a sumptuous lunch at Golden Cowrie which was located a few meters away from where we played badminton. We feasted on some of the most delicious Filipino dishes such as Kare-Kare, Pork Sisig, Sinigang, Lechon Kawali, Baked Scallops, Ngohiong, and the like. I was not able to taste most of the dishes due to my pollotarian diet but the dishes looked so appetizing and I'm sure that they enjoyed it.
It was fortunate that we were the only ones dining at the restaurant at that time. Aside from the food we shared, we also shared some laughter and some conversations worth remembering.
During our lunch, @explorewithsasha gave us some gifts and I truly appreciated it because she gave us personalized gifts. I always appreciate personalized gifts. I was also able to get to know @itsmiessyonpeakd since it was my first time meeting her. They also asked me how I was doing with my studies and it was such a heartwarming experience that I got to share my sentiments regarding my internship. After our lunch, we went on our own separate ways since I needed to go home and rest, so that I could study for my examination.
These were some of the dishes we ate. Here we have ngohiong, vegan kare-kare, and some baked scallops.
It was a quick meet-up session but I was so grateful for the time and energy that we shared on that day since I got to let go of my school-related anxiety and I got to enjoy just being in the moment and being with people who truly matter. Yes, sometimes, we just need to live a little and see the world for what it is. Life is not just about the hustles, it's also about going out there and just living in the moment.
Just a quick mirror selfie after we devoured some Filipino dishes and after we had some enjoyable conversations.
