Weekends always help me recalibrate and prepare myself for the coming days ahead. Back then, I used to spend my weekends doing school work because I had this notion that I need to be diligent when it comes to academic obligations. Little did I know, that notion compromised my overall sense of well-being. That is why for this year, I made a resolution and that is to say yes whenever I can. To shed light regarding my resolution, I now made a vow to myself that I must say yes whenever I am given the opportunity to do some leisure activities because life is not just about academics and working on one's career. Life is meant to be lived by doing things that set our souls on fire.
Fortunately, last Saturday, I got the chance to say yes again when @dzeizon invited @asasiklause and I along with some of his friends to play badminton. I used to enjoy playing badminton for leisure about a decade ago when my father introduced me to the sport. Upon reading his invitation, I got ecstatic because finally I get to do an activity making my weekend a not so mundane day anymore. I also made a resolution that I must engage in more activities that are beneficial for my mental health. Since we did not have much plans after an hour of playing badminton, I decided to date myself again at SM Seaside to make my Saturday even more enjoyable. Now, I will be sharing how I spent my Saturday.
Badminton Game
Ever since I stopped going to the gym temporarily, I try to find ways so that I'll stay active despite being at home for most of the time. Attending online classes and doing online internship can lead to a sedentary lifestyle so as much as I can, I do yoga in the morning and run in the afternoon. Sometimes, the routine can get so redundant that I get bored with it. So when I heard that we were going to play badminton, I got my racket and excitedly woke up early on that morning. It was an amazing experience because I got to meet new people and gain new friends aside from getting the endorphins that I needed. As a cardio workout, it isn't as tiresome as compared to running for a few kilometers. I will definitely play badminton again in the coming weeks whenever I am given the chance to. I am so glad that I said yes.
Self-Date
After our sweaty badminton session, I freshened up a bit and decided to stop by at SM Seaside to pamper myself and go out on another self-date which I have been enjoying lately. I have been enjoying being alone with my thoughts and being more mindful of what surrounds me. During my self-date, I first grabbed a quick snack at Burger King because I was starving. Then, I decided to have a pedicure since it has been so long since I last pampered myself and I believe that I deserve it. After my pedicure, I went across the floor to have my brows threaded. I always feel more confident whenever my eyebrow's are on fleek. I feel like I am more empowered and I can conquer anything. After going on a self-date, I met up with my father along with some friends and then we got some coffee for takeout. We decided to drop our friends home and they definitely had a beautiful view outside their home so I decided to sip coffee while staring at the vast blue waters. It gave me so much peace.
Last Saturday, truly helped me recharge from a stressful week of accomplishing academic obligations. It made me realize the importance of work-life balance and how rest is equally as important as perseverance and dedication to one's career. Thank you so much for spending an easy Saturday with me.
