1st week of training - challenges and accomplishments!
As I have promised I will keep a weekly journal, my challenges and accomplishments about my work out routine and strategy during my first week of work out commitment.
The real challenge that I faced, not only this time but also every time I tried to stay on track with my workout regime, was getting there in the first place.
Well this time, although blockchain keeps reminding me that I should keep my pact with it, I encountered the same problem. Getting there was my main priority, but I know that as soon as I get there I will have no issue in completing my work out routine. I am proud to say that I have been going on a daily basis ! That is a first and hopefully it will become part of my day schedule. It has so far! I have read somewhere that going to the gym for a hour represents 4% of your time in a day!
So that was an incentive to make me understand that if I want to be healthy and lose weight I certainly can afford to spent at least 4% of my day at the gym. I came to understand that, as after a couple of days, I was actually looking forward to get my training on.
Now regarding my workout regime I have read a lot of blogs and studied enough fitness programs to know realistically what I can and cannot do.
At least not in the shape that I am now. I also know that by pushing to hard on my body I will come to find it hard to keep my promise. So I have created a special fitness body plan for my personal level of capability.
First step was to understand the main issues on my body that I feel need more attention and what kind of exercise will make sure that my stamina and mental exhaustion will work for my best interest.
So I came up with an alternate fitness program. I am doing weight training and cardio combined. My training usualy starts with streching and a light cardio for about 20 to 30 minutes. After that and only after my pre cardio session do I start my normal regime. That is alternate. That means that one day it is upper body training, the next will be lower body training. I do that because my research regarding that shows that it is best to let each muscle group relax and recover until the next workout. Plus this way I make sure that all of my time and energy are focused on that part of the body and I am not just going sloppy through a routine. For each muscle group I do 15 x 10 reps. I know it is not a lot, but for my untrained body it is enough and by the next day I usually feel if I did enough or need to do more hehe.
Every day no matter how I alternate my workouts I do abs. Like they say everyday is abs day.
Hopefully this strategy will pay off in a couple of months and I wouldn’t have wasted my time.
As yesterday I delegated my time as off day, today I will have to continue my normal schedule of workout and I can honestly say that I am looking forward in doing so.
In this whole process I did not mention one important thing and that is where I encounter most of my problems. Eating healthy should be my most valuable asset in this whole process. I am not a big fan of fast food, as I usually cook my own romanian recipes. The problem is, I cannot find a regime that keeps me eating 3 meals a day. I do not do breakfast everyday and surely I end up eating once a day. I know it does not help! I also started eating less carbs as I can,
white bread being my personal enemy, since my culture evolves around bread I tried to stay away from it as much as I could. Also soft drinks are a no no! Regarding sweets I am not a big fan and do not often indulge in them. My meals often include more protein then anything else and vegetables. That being said I acknowledge that the eating program has been my main flaw during this past week. But I am working on fixing that as well, since it is vital for my goal to keep myself on track and add some value to my program.
That being said I am off to my workout, but not before I have a light breakfast!
This will become my weekly post and I am looking forward to your comments and opinions!
Keep in touch,
