LOH 121- Falling in love as the time goes by and learning to trust to strengthen the relationship.
I wasn't able to join the previous LOH contest in the community due to some personal reasons, and today, as I checked, this question got me;
Does love come on suddenly or grow over time? What are your keys
to ensure your relationship remains strong and healthy?
As someone like me who was addicted to reading romance novels, I used to believe in what I always read about how the characters developed feelings with each other. Oh, not developed, but how LOVE grows fonder as usually, it was Love at first sight. Felt that instant connection, heart beating fast as you laid eyes on him. It might be you felt that Slow motion, freeze or fast-forward and seeing the future with him. It sounded cliché, but my young and naïve heart believed in that. I had several crushes at first sight, though.
It might be it exists, just not in my case. As for me, based on my personal experience, LOVE Grows Over Time. Let me share a reason why.
I mentioned several times that I am already married for a few years. My husband used to be one of my workmates and our first meeting? No! I didn't feel anything for him! Not even giving him a second look! What? He was not my type, so why bother? I am not harsh; I was just not even fond of making friends with guys. I had issues with men due to my NOT so good experience back in my teenage stage.
Since we are workmates and our work is connected, we would talk, argue, and discuss. That's how small talk began. He invited me to go with him to church one Sunday morning. That became a natural routine every weekend. From church activities to dining out and turning into dating stage.

It took me almost a year before I accepted him for reasons I thought I couldn't reciprocate his feelings. Thus over the time my Love for him Grows.
Thus, love isn't always during happy times but also in challenging moments. In a world full of temptations, how do I ensure that our relationship remains strong?
One of my favorite subjects in college was mythology, and one of the characters I always remember was Cupid and Psyche. Remember what he says to his beloved maiden.
Love will not grow without trust.
Yes, trust! I haven't learned, nor develop, this over time. It was built through the years. The most significant test of ours was when he started to work abroad. I, the paranoid girlfriend, would always open his Facebook account and check his chat box and even the activity logged. Like a detective!
Over the years, I realized that I was just it was just a waste of time, and he earned my trust. Now, I am no longer doing that! We don't even follow each other on Instagram!
Aside from trust, we both valued respect as husband and wife and as Human beings. As such, we avoid doing some things or saying a word that might go over the boundaries. Words are lethal; it takes time for the wound to heal.
This is why the last thing that we both do not want to happen is to argue over financial issues. Even during the first year of our marriage, and it took him more than a year before getting a new contract at work, I never said a word, even though I was the one financing our needs. In spending, for me, it's not about the gender of WHO, but it was who could provide. Love should be given and take process. If you are currently more capable of providing, then GO. Right? Do not rant and say nasty words to your partner, especially behind their back.
