Hive has fundamentally altered how I use the internet in a positive manner: Prior to hive, most of my time on the internet was purely leisure time. I would play games or binge social media or fill the empty time of late nights...
When I was first earning hive for post I was writing, my outlook slowly shifted. I learned that the internet was not just a place for wasting time. It was also a place where my thoughts, stories, experiences, and creativity could be worthwhile.
Thanks to hive I am now driven to think about what I can write and post instead of "what should I watch tonight?". From asking myself "what should I watch tonight" to asking "what can I write about today". To relax, I travel, have experiences, reflect on things I learn, read, to give you an idea of what happens in a day.
Lastly, writing made me more mindful of how I use my time. Sitting down to write a post involves planning, mindmapping, and wording, and researching, if necessary. It requires more thought and effort than merely scrolling through social media, but there's a reward for that effort at the end of the process when I can see I've achieved something worthwhile.
Hive has given me the opportunity to meet people from different locations and expand my mind. By following other stories I am introduced to new concepts, experiences, cultures and perspectives. I feel like I am living my story and from everyone else's too.
The one thing that Hive transformed me from a consumer of online information into a creator of online information. I still consume entertainment and surf the web, but there is a different purpose now.
For me, it isn't just about earning on hive. It has led me to write, think, connect, learn and even utilize my time in a way that could have easily been that other night of playing or scrolling. It is now an opportunity to make something!
That's my Hive story: from just spending time online, to making my time online count.
