I had my first smartphone way back 2013 during my 18th birthday. Now, I am 24 years old, so basically, I have lived 75% of my 24 years in existence not having a cellphone.
So to answer your question, definitely, I could live a year or more without a smartphone. In the first place, I am not fond of using a smartphone because for me, it just promotes laziness. Yes, we can do many things using our smartphones, like business transactions and communicating with friends and families but for me, smartphones are more of a bane than a boon.
When I had my first smartphone, what I did next was download games and applications. Yes, I enjoyed the games so much but my household chores are left unattended to and my school projects are forgotten. I became aloof. I don't mingle with friends anymore.I considered my smartphone my new bestfriend. I became less active. I managed my time very poorly. I only stopped using smartphones when mine got broken.
Now, I still have smartphones but I use it responsibly. I use it to call and send messages to family and to capture life's best moments. But if I have to detach myself from this thing, then it would be a very nice idea. If I have to talk to my family, then I will just have to go to their place. This way, our talks would be extra special.
