There's a disorder that's not usually talked about. One that often finds a way to hide and shield itself when we talk about addictions and the things people get so attached to that leaving them or breaking away from them, maybe for a period of time can be difficult or even impossible. That disorder, that addiction remains the unhealthy attachment people tend to have to their phones or computer devices. A lot of wrongs are criticised in similar discussions, but this one slips away or goes without consideration.

Perhaps, people haven't taken the time to consider this. Obviously, the facade it bears is an innocent one that we don't seem to see anything wrong. But that's not even the major point of discussion here, though it touches on it in some way. The prompt is considering the possibility of staying away from our phones for a period of time. Is it a possibility or something that won't or can't just work? I mean, see the world we're in today. It's like a digital station, with our phones as remotes.

This is actually a topic of consideration especially among people of the younger generation. We're the ones endowed with the benefit of technology and devices such as our phones that we've become connected and attached to them. A lot of things today are run easily and seamlessly on the phone. But it isn't just a means to an end or a tool that serves our needs today. It's become more like a companion many can't do without, and this is where the question stems from, if we can stay away from our phones for some hours.

However, we have to recognise the fact that for many, the phone is a tool for good, not just some medium to pass the time on frivolities, which is the major concern in such a discussion. For some, the phone is their source of income. It's also a tool for learning, communicating and other important things. This isn't usually the prevalent reason why some people can get so attached to their phones that they can't stay away from them or be without them, even for some hours.

As someone who does things online and digitally, it's a tool and resource for me. It helps me deliver my services and do many other things. Yes, even to spend some time getting entertained. But, can I stay away from my phone and computer devices for some hours? Is that possible? Yes. When I don't have many important things to do, the phone stays away. It can be a busy and engaging time with the phone. That has to be important or just helpful at the moment.

When not needed, it's something I can do without. It's a phone, a tool, right? Despite its immense value and necessity for what I use it for, it's not all about life. There are other aspects of life, physical and social that time needs to be spent on as well. Physical connection, interaction, and other things outside the phone are also important. Phones and computer devices play their roles and should serve their purposes, not become life itself.
