The Sanziene flowers (Lady Bedstraw flowers) bloom in June. They are my favorites because they smell really nice, are wildflowers, and are celebrated on June 24th, one day before my birthday.
But that's not all because they are connected with the Sanziene holiday, a pagan celebration of the summer solstice, basically. Of course there could be a lot to say about this celebration shrouded in mystery and stories about good and bad fairies, but that another story.
This celebration is also related to Saint John the Baptist's Nativity, which also happens on June 24.
