Greetings All
I have been looking forward to sharing today's update. It's a doozy!
And Saita did. It was easy. It felt like she had taken a step back into herself and was watching as a willing spectator.
“I will not be chained again.” She heard herself say.
Jethron seemed oblivious to the change, but Kay immediately got to her feet and backed away. She wasn’t going to interfere. Saita could guess a variety of reasons, but she was almost sure watching a Dekai be beaten to a pulp would be cathartic to the queen.
“Don’t you understand what a marvel you are?” continued Jethron, hoping to convince Saita.
“Don’t you understand the hell this creation has wrought? No, because you’re a child who has no idea what he wants to experiment with. Allow me to correct that.”
It felt as if someone opened the veins in Saita’s forearms, as energy bled from them to create the telltale Fell Dragon armour that Kay was so fond of. It hurt. Saita couldn’t believe how much it hurt, but Kay seemed oblivious to it.
The Dekai now realised the danger he was in but seemed unbothered. He pulled twin black energy balls into his hands. He was grinning, as if this was a dream come true for him. He could face off against a Fell Dragon. He lost his grin the moment Kay managed to swipe at him. While she hadn’t made contact with the Dekai, the ferocity and the drain on his energy were immediate. He stumbled back.
Queen Kay looked at Saita and simply said, “Are you done scaring my guest?”
Saita wanted to take back control but was halted by the sheer pain that flowed into her body. She had no idea that this was Kay’s ability and what she had had to live with for millennia. It was no wonder that she barely held onto any sanity. If this ability had been combined with Saita’s ability to store energy, she would never have been stopped once she lost her mind.
Kay didn’t want to let go of the feeling of control and felt pure pleasure at seeing the cowering Dekai at her feet. He was like all the others who had wanted to slip a collar around her neck. She was done with that. She wanted control. Needed control.
She stepped forward once more with her claws extended to the Dekai who seemed to be muttering under his breath. She wasn’t sure if it was a spell or prayer, she didn’t care. It felt too good to draw air into her lungs once more.
Then she paused. There was a strange hum in the air. She knew this feeling and knew that her fun was over. However, before she could step back into the dark reaches of Saita’s mind pain exploded in her head and her vision was obscured by a blinding light. She cursed and covered her eye, already knowing what had stepped into the room.
Saita was thrust back into consciousness as a force lifted her from her feet and attempted to throw her into a wall. However, she had long since learned how to combat abilities such as this. She grabbed at the force, stepped aside, and pulled.
While she was sure that she remained on her feet, a sense of vertigo swiftly followed, and for a moment, it felt like she was standing and lying on the ground. She released the force and stepped aside to catch her breath, only to find an old, white-robed man before her.
While the hate for the individual before her had faded decades ago, she still felt a twinge of anger as she recognise the Heavenly.
“Shareik.” She said as she stood up. “I should have known the two of us would cross paths at some point in my later life. Where are you in your travels?”
The Heavenly looked at the Champion and said nothing. He had accidentally come here when he felt a surge of a Dragon. He hadn’t meant to interfere, but he had, and now the Champion was asking him a question he didn’t dare answer.
This was the first time that he had met her.
He then turned and noticed another one like the Champion. She looked surprised but not concerned. He wondered if they would have dealings in his future. He then trained his vision on the one on the ground. That had been an accident. He hadn’t meant to do it, but if he hadn’t, she would have killed the Dekai king.
Saita, concerned over Shareik not answering her, followed his gaze and nearly collapsed when she saw who was sitting up on the floor glaring at the Heavenly.
“You son of a bitch.” Said Dragon Kay as she wiped her mouth.
