Greetings Readers
Yesterday was long, and I had a huge list of chores that were not my own. Some of it included driving around getting other people's chores done.
Le Sigh.
Oh well, here is the late update. A little short, but next week should be much longer!
Saita shook her head. It ached, and it took her a moment to come to consciousness. For a moment, she couldn’t remember where or when she was. It wasn’t until she looked at her bloodied hands that she remembered what she had witnessed. She sighed heavily and got to her feet.
“I was wondering when you would wake. It’s been a while.”
Saita didn’t startle. Instead, she fixed the future version of herself with an exhausted look. The woman looked at the blood on Saita’s hands and sighed softly.
“I never went back. I couldn’t stomach the idea of seeing her.” She admitted.
Saita wanted to query it, but the older woman raised a hand to say. “It wasn’t a fixed point in time. Whether you went to her or not, it wouldn’t have changed anything other than to soothe her heart and to let Bolx think that he got to truly say goodbye.”
“Are you stalking me?”
The older woman shook her head. “No, I was saying my own goodbye.”
Saita wasn’t sure what that meant. “Goodbye?”
“I am all that is left to fight the Maw.”
Saita could see the pain on the older woman’s face, so she could only guess what had happened to her Kay. She, however, was concerned about why she was here now.
“And you came for my help?”
“No. No.” sighed the woman, the second ‘no’ carrying far less power than the first, as if she was unsure of the answer.
She shook her head and swung an arm out to lead Saita somewhere. There was no reason not to trust her, so Saita followed. They continued, with the older one swinging her head from left to right, as if looking for a particular time.
“Where are you taking me?” asked Saita after the minutes stretched into what felt like hours.
“Kay.”
“She’s with Silens. Has that changed?”
“No.”
More silence, something that made Saita’s gut turn cold.
“What has happened?”
“Something unexpected. Something I didn’t factor into my calculations when you two split too early.” She sighed before taking a deep breath. “She’s…”
Saita saw how pale her future self had become and realised something terrible had happened.
“What did she change in the timeline?” sighed Saita.
“It’s best I show you. You will need to make a decision, and I hope it is the right one.”
The next piece was too long to include and will likely be split into two pieces. I hope you are all looking forward to it!
