I'm a sucker for cooking recipe videos. I'll attempt almost anything that I have the ingredients for. So after watching a recent video on making crumpets I tried my hand at it.
Firstly, I'm never one for exactly following recipes, especially when it comes to measuring and time. I cook by sight, smell and taste.
The above video gives the ingredients.
The dough seemed to have gone off well, but I lacked any egg rings to pour the dough into, so I substituted the little forms you see the photo below.
While the first attempt, they did not really look like crumpets from the shop, they definitely smelt and tasted like them.
On the second attempt they did look more like what they should. So it would seem cooking time and method seems to play a large role in their appearance.
I guess I'll have to keep trying.
