Basic Guide – These are the most important “Archons/Summoners” you need in “Modern Format” [EN-ES]

Just yesterday I posted a step-by-step guide on how to play in the MODERNS BRACKETS with the goal of building winning streaks that would let us earn more rewards over time. Even though it might sound trivial, building positive streaks in the game is important, since this ensures you’ll move up to new divisions, in addition to—of course—improving your progression and your gameplay. However, there’s one key element missing from all of this: the cards, which are essentially the most important part of playing Splinterlands.
So in this post, I’ll show you a “Basic Guide” to the best cards you can use in the game to achieve those “Winning Streaks” I mentioned earlier. That’s why I want to share the best “Archons”—cards with key roles on the battlefield—that will help you with this task, since every player—or at least anyone who wants to play professionally in “Ranked” matches—needs to know all these details, both from yesterday’s post and the ones I’m about to publish today. There are actually many more, and I’ve posted a lot about this lately—just take a look at my profile.
So, today’s post will be even more interesting because I’ll get right to the point with what you need—so read all the way to the end so you can see the cards, the roles, and everything else.
Mastering the “Modern Archons” (Tactics and Bloodlines)
The Archons we’re interested in for playing in the “Modern Format” come from the “Rebellion” and “Arcana Conclave” sets, although I first encountered them as “Summoners”—but that doesn’t matter now. What’s truly essential is how they function in the current META, and for those who don’t know, this is important because when I first started, everything was much simpler; These days, it’s not that it’s become overly complex, but strategically speaking, the average player needs to think much more carefully about their moves, and this is due to their signature mechanic.
These new Summoners introduced what’s called “Summoner Tactics”—right now it might be called “Archon Tactics”—but what matters is understanding how it works, because that’s exactly what dominates the current meta when it comes to summoners. For those who don’t know what these tactics are about, I’ll explain it very simply:
What are Summoner Tactics?
Summoner Tactics is a mechanic that activates right before the actual battle begins. This means that the “Tactic” itself takes place 1 minute before the battle formally starts, and it’s something that can completely change the course of the game if we know how to use it effectively. What these summoners do is apply an additional, customized effect before the battle begins.
Basically, you make a “Tactical” decision before the battle begins, such as granting additional abilities that cards don’t usually have—abilities you can bestow before the battle starts. Generally, you can grant an ability and/or stat to a maximum of 2 cards; on the other hand, most of the best “Rebellion” summoners come with two tactics—some focused on offense, others on defense, or, if you will, on “support.”
Archons/Summoners of Rebellion
Lorkus (Death/Fire): This Archon is one of my favorites; his tactic lets you choose between granting “Life Leech + Affliction” to 2 of your cards or granting the “Trample” or “Fury” abilities to 2 units. How you play him will depend on your strategy, as he’s ideal for destroying “Tanks” or stealing health points.
Cryptic (Water/Death): This is another one of the strongest “Archons” with tactics, which applies a -1 speed penalty to the enemy and lets you assign the following abilities to two units (Retaliate + Enfeeble and/or Poison + Expose)—it all depends on how you want to play it.
Akane (Dragon): She’s a great summoner; in addition to the versatility characteristic of “Dragons,” she also has “Tactics,” which grants the “Lookout” ability to 1 card or the “Ambush” ability to 2 units—which is literally insane.
Avina of the Wolf: Life Splinter has always been one of my favorites, and the truth is that Avina is an incredible summoner—her Tactics ability grants +2 Speed to 2 units or gives the “Heal” ability to a card on your side of the field, of course.
Explaining the Bloodline Dominion “Mechanics” and the Best Archons in “Arcane Conclave”
We’ve already seen how “Summoner Tactics” work—they’re now even part of the META and a wide range of strategies in the game. However, with the arrival of “Arcane Conclave,” new mechanics were introduced that further expand players’ possibilities and strategies—I’m talking about “Bloodline Dominion.”
What are “Bloodlines”?
To add even more versatility to the combinations and strategies used in the game, the team added what are called “Bloodlines,” which simply refer to the species that defines a card—for example, “Elves,” “Goblins,” and so on. This allows you to play cards of the same species or “Bloodline” regardless of which Splinter they belong to, which opens up many more possibilities for creating incredible combinations in the game.
Now, who are the most iconic “Archons” in “Conclave Arcana”? In addition to their own mechanics, many of them also feature the “Summoner Tactics” introduced in “Rebellion”:
Archons of “Conclave Arcana”
Dragonlord Mancer (Dragon): Synergy with the Saurian and Bruteborn lines, granting Bloodlust + Corrupted Healing to 2 units.
Hanv (Fire): Synergy with Undead and Goblin, granting Double Strike + Swiftness to 1 key unit.
Captain Frankie (Life): Synergy with Rodentian and Tideborn, granting Piercing + True Strike to 2 units.
Brave the Bull (Death): Synergy with Minotaur and Djinn, granting Armored Strike + Execute to 2 units.
Ghezira (Earth) / Meredrool (Fire): Low-mana Archons (3 Mana) that allow you to deploy racial swarms in low-mana battles.
Final Thoughts
I hope you’ve understood the importance of “Archons” in Splinterlands and how to make the most of them, especially if you play in the “Modern Format” and the new “Modern Brackets.” Of course, I’m not explaining how to use them in battle, but the theoretical explanation is more than clear—you just need to focus on how “Summoner Tactics” and “Bloodlines” work.
If you have any questions, feel free to comment—I’ll be happy to answer them. Plus, this series is ongoing.
See you on the "Battlefield"

Brave the Bull (Muerte): Sinergia con Minotaur y Djinn, otorgando Armored Strike + Execute a 2 unidades.
