Donut Eat Too Much

Here in Trinidad, baked donuts are the norm from our most popular chain donut boys. There are a few fried donut places popping up here and there but our favourite has to be DC donuts. The fun thing about it is that they have the whole production process on view through a glass window allowing us to see the frying process in much detail. One could spend an hour just staring at it, mouth watering and it could just kill you to see the server glazing the donuts! Its so mesmerizing!

First the batter seems to loaded into a dispenser that automatically and periodically pops out a perfectly formed donut ring into the oil conveyer fryer down below. It actually swivels to pop out two side by side. Talk about efficiency.

The conveyer fryer then moved it along while frying it up until a point where it is flipped when perfectly golden brown on one side. It is them passed along again while frying until the other side is perfectly well done. When it gets to the end of the belt, it pauses for a while while draining before falling gently and rolling into a spinning catcher. The machine was simple yet it was well thought out and I admired it.

Once well drained on the rotating white plate, the worker removed them and placed them on trays after which she lovingly glazed them with white and chocolate glazes and adding sprinkles to some. It was so mouthwatering to look at! These do not stay long and we quickly ordered a batch to go. I could imagine how crazy people go for crispy creme donuts in the US!.

The trouble with these is the size. You can't just eat one. But by the time you're on the second or third one, its all over from there! The guild sets in and eating so bad never felt so good! Pure bliss! If only these types of fried donut shops were more popular around the country. This is quite far away from where I live but it is worth the drive.
