Hello Hive Fam! I hope everyone is doing well today! I’d like to share a little reflection about a place that once felt like my second home : Starmall EDSA‑Shaw in Mandaluyong, Philippines.

Back when I was working in Pasig City, Starmall was one of my go‑to spots. After long weekdays, I would often stay here to eat, shop, or even watch movies alone. I have many friends, but I’ve always valued solitude, those quiet moments where I could recharge and enjoy my own company. Starmall gave me that space. It wasn’t the fanciest mall, but it had affordable finds that were surprisingly good in quality.

Recently, I decided to revisit Starmall after several months. I was excited, but also curious about how it might have changed. To my surprise, some of the shops I used to frequent were already closed. There were new stores, yes, but many spaces remained unoccupied. Walking through the corridors, I noticed how quiet it had become. Unlike before, when weekends meant crowds and lively energy, now I could literally count the shoppers passing by.

It made me wonder: why is this happening, especially now that we’re already in the BER months, usually the busiest season for malls in the Philippines? The sight left me a little sad. This mall holds so many of my personal memories, and seeing it quieter than before felt like watching a dear friend slowly fade.

Whatever the reasons behind these changes, I sincerely wish for Starmall to live longer. Affordable yet quality items are rare gems, and this mall has always been a place where practicality meets comfort. For people like me who value both budget and simplicity, Starmall remains special.
