I actually used to think yellow was too loud and It was the colour that always seemed to enter a room before everyone else... Be it a yellow shirt, Yellow walls, Yellow flowers, Even a yellow car somehow looked like it was announcing itself...
For a long time, it wasn't really a colour I paid attention to, then one morning, I changed my mind... I was sitting outside my home, still trying to wake up properly when sunlight started finding its way between the buildings opposite me... Across the Street was a yellow wall and Im sure I had walked past that wall hundreds of times without noticing it but that morning, the sunlight hit it differently..
The whole wall looked warm and for some reason, I kept looking at it.
I don't know why I remember that moment, It was just a normal morning but somehow, yellow was everywhere.... The sunlight, then the wall.... That was probably the first time I understood why people associate yellow with happiness..
Since then, I've started noticing yellow differently... in flowers, in buildings, I notice it in little things that I probably would have ignored before and strangely, it has become one of those colours that can change my mood without asking permission.
There is something energetic about yellow, not the aggressive kind... Sometimes, especially when I'm having one of those slow days, seeing something yellow simply makes the world feel a little less serious.
Yellow is impossible to completely ignore.
Funny enough, I still don't think I would want everything around me to be yellow... That would probably become exhausting very quickly but as a colour, I appreciate what it brings.
So yes, yellow eventually won me over and not because it is the most beautiful colour, but because it has a way of making ordinary things feel alive and maybe that's enough reason to like a colour...
Yellow doesn't just catch my eyes anymore... It catches my mood..
