Mysterious objects on the Balcony [ Writing Contest ] Finish the tale #5

Every morning , a different object appeared on my neighbor's balcony -today it was a bowl of salt.

The passageway was covered with salt, and I could see it on the doorstep as I passed their balcony.

I thought it was odd to see candles on their balcony two weeks ago, but I chose to ignore them.
Last week , there were five red handkerchiefs on their balcony which I assume represent each member of the family because my neighbors have three kids.

Upon seeing the salt bowl today. Since this is a recent activity and I haven't seen such objects on their balcony since they moved in.

The children haven't attended school in two weeks, and they rarely leave the house; they eventually spend the entire day by themselves.My curiosity got the better of me and I was unable to ignore it any longer.

I knocked on their door, but nobody answered, so I walked away. My neighbor visited me later in the day and told me that she was meditating the previous time I knocked and was unable to answer. I then inquired about the item I had noticed on her balcony. She told me that it is a family custom for her to do all of this in order to protect herself and her family.

She stated that, the ceremony is repeated every year, and once completed, I will no longer see any of the items on her balcony.
