After two years of studying at home, school activities are back to normal starting from the first week of January 2022. In Indonesia, the school year is divided into two semesters. Semester I ends in the middle of December. After that, there is a school holiday in semester I.
This year, Semester II started on January 10, 2022. My kids all go to school every day. Though school is normal, the capacity of the students is half. The class is divided into two shifts. Therefore, the length of the class also decreases.
As a parent, I feel happy with the government's decision. School activities become normal again though they are not full. During 2 years of studying at home, my children were not optimal in their learning.
Studying at home using gadgets causes my children to spend more time in front of the screen. It's not that I don't like it, but learning activities are not effective because children quickly get bored of learning online. Finally, when not under supervision, my children even play online games. This situation may occur to other children.
I feel worried that my children spend too much time on their gadgets. I always ask my children to play out with their friends. I prefer my kids to get home with dirty clothes. I often get angry when my kids feel tired from playing with their gadgets. I do not care about the social distancing of covi...d rules. I need my kids to get social with their friends.
I have three kids. One is in a secondary school and two are in a primary school. My first daughter, who studies in a secondary school, starts studying at 7.00 am and finishes at 9.30 am. In a normal length of study, a secondary school student will spend their time at school for around 6 hours, but today my daughter only spends 2.5 hours at school.
My second daughter and my son, who are in primary school, start studying at 8.30 am and finish at 9.00 am. In a normal school day, a primary school student will study for around 4-5 hours. In this situation, my kids spend 1.5 hours in school.
Though, the school is not 100 percent normal, I hope that my kids will learn better at school. They will also socialize with their classmates, teachers, and other school personnel.
