Greetings!
There's no doubt about education being the best legacy, but one other thing that we should know is that, thereunto way one can learn with association, being associated with others when it comes to learning is another form of education on its own. So, education and social interaction are two things that cannot be separated.
Having talked extensively about education being the best legacy and also the role of social interaction when it comes to learning, I would like to delve into the topic of the prompt in the Hive learners community which is all about. “Homeschooling or not.”
As for me, I would choose the traditional form of schooling over homeschooling which has more advantages when compared to homeschooling. One thing I so much believe about homeschooling is that it would only help in limiting the children's horizons when learning as we should not forget that when people learn together, most especially students learn together, they tend to gain from each other which would seriously help them in their studies.
This above is why we should not deprive our children all in the name of homeschooling where they would only learn in isolation and on their own, instead of sharing their ideas with their supposed learning partners or students.
So, as for me, one thing I would not do is to limit the learning scope of my children all in the name of homeschooling which I believe will smoke their opportunity of sharing their learning skill with their supposed learners.
Aside from this, one thing we should also have at the back of our mind is that, if we as parents should limit what our children should learn if know, then those that are attending the normal traditional schools where all the needed school curriculum are being taught on the daily basis would get the nod ahead of them and the reason being that what would be set in the external exams would have been taught to those that are attending the normal traditional school.
So, it's only if one's children would not sit for the normal external exams that I would prefer them to be tutored at home by me in the name of homeschooling rather than attending the normal traditional schools, but if the government still controls the national examination bodies, then I would not hesitate in taking and giving my children the traditional system of education.
Furthermore, one thing I would not like to deprive my children is their social lives and this is because of the effect this had on me while growing up if not for the fact that I'm just trying to change my lifestyle to be a little bit of a social person which I have been once deprived by my parents, although not because of homeschooling, but because of always locking us inside whenever we are back from school or church, if that is the case, I would not want the situation where I would also let what affect me affect my children just because If the fear that they might be influenced by the traditional school system.
In conclusion, I won't go with the traditional system of learning over the homeschooling of a thing and this is because of the great benefits and advantages which are attached to it.
This is my entry to week 231, episode 01 of the weekly featured contest in the Hive learners community.
