It's been a while since I leased out some HP.
And as you can see I have paid out 7.28 + 14.57 = 21.85 Hive
But the question that I wanted to ask in this account was (and still is)...was leasing out the HP profitable?
Quick answer : Yes and No
As you can see I have 15.648 Hive rewards are pending.
But you may say ...
... It makes no sense paying out 21.85 Hive in order to get 15.648 Hive back. It means that I lost 6.202 Hive.
If I got 15.648 Hive that means that those people I upvoted also got 15.648 Hive. I've actively been upvoting people who make quality posts and who hold the GLD token. So, 31.296 in rewards between myself and the community. If I look at total benefit to myself and GLD token holders the total value is much more than the lease payment.
I could have given out 22 hive to GLD holders and got nothing myself. It would work. OR if I spend that same 22 HIVE to LEASE HP and upvote GLD holders:
Seems like a much better way to use the HIVE rather than give direct rewards.
So going forward rather than give out direct rewards to GLD holders I believe that leasing out HP to upvote content from GLD holders will give overall more benefit to the community members and allow the curator to stack more HP in the long term.
Overall decent rewards now AND better rewards in the future.
As always I am looking for feedback. Especially from my mentor on Hive. Overall though, I really like the idea of helping out community members while also growing stronger for the curation account. Seems like a Win:Win ...
.... but I'm open to feedback and other idea
