This month’s earnings were my second highest since I became a Medium Partner. New insights and conclusions have been highlighted with blockquotes.

Graphs and Statistics

The statistics appeared to be random. This made it difficult to make conclusions other than stories have the most reads soon after publication.

When analysing statistics, it would have been easier if Medium had used a consistent timeframe. I’m not sure why they use 30 days for ‘reads’ and ‘views’ but months for ‘earnings’ and ‘followers’. Here are my graphs and statistics up to and including September…

Since August, Medium has put a ‘temporary hold’ on the ‘Reads’ statistics.

Earnings compared to Subscription

November earnings rose by 271% compared to October.

I added a monthly target because, as this is my first year, it might be a while before I break even. The monthly target is set at $4.17, which is my annual subscription divided by 12. My aim is for each month’s earnings to meet or exceed that target.

Conclusions

This month’s earnings were my second highest. If I maintain my average earnings, my annual subscription would be equivalent to $26.60 ($50-$23.40) a year.

There seems to be no relationship between views and earnings.
