Today I couldn't resist going out early to the yard to share with you the immense joy I feel in my heart. Anyone who works the land knows that there is no greater satisfaction than waking up in the morning, with the dew still fresh, and seeing how life makes its way through the green leaves. The garden of a country woman is not just to decorate the house; it is sustenance, it is medicine, and it is where one places her dedication, prayers, and the water carried with so much effort day after day.
Hoy no aguanté las ganas de salir temprano al patio y compartir con ustedes la inmensa alegría que siento en el corazón. Quien trabaja la tierra sabe que no hay satisfacción más grande que levantarse por las mañanas, con el rocío todavía fresco, y ver cómo la vida se abre paso entre las hojas verdes. El conuco o el jardín de una mujer de campo no es solo para adornar la casa; es el sustento, es la medicina y es donde una deposita sus desvelos, sus oraciones y el agua que con tanto esfuerzo se carga día tras día.

Just look at how those squash plants are doing, spreading over the ground and climbing with such enthusiasm. What a great thrill when you bend down among the leaves and find that beautiful surprise: a firm, healthy fruit growing well hidden! And alongside my son, who always accompanies me and helps me check for pests, the work becomes pure joy. Teaching children to respect and love the land is the best inheritance a mother can leave them.
Miren nomás cómo van esas matas de auyama, tendidas por el suelo y trepándose con tanto entusiasmo. Qué emoción tan grande cuando una agacha la cabeza entre la fronda y se encuentra con esa sorpresa hermosa: ¡un fruto firme y sano creciendo bien escondidito! Y al lado de mi muchacho, que siempre me acompaña y me ayuda a revisar que las plagas no hagan de las suyas, el trabajo se vuelve pura dicha. Enseñar a los hijos a respetar y amar la tierra es la mejor herencia que una madre humilde les puede dejar.

On this other side, look at the eggplant plant. What a great blessing! They have a shiny purple color, so smooth and heavy that it is a joy to touch them. Today gives us a good harvest that will go straight to the family table. No strange chemicals, just homemade care, black soil fertilized with patience and a lot of love. The tomato plants are also rising strongly, promising to give us their juicy red fruits for the daily stew very soon.
Por este otro lado miren la mata de berenjenas. ¡Qué bendición tan grande! Tienen un color morado brillante, tan lisitas y pesadas que da gusto tocarlas. Hoy nos regala una buena cosecha que irá directo a la mesa de la familia. Sin químicos raros ni cosas raras, puras atenciones caseras, tierra negra abonada con paciencia y bastante cariño. También las maticas de tomate están levantando cabeza con fuerza, prometiendo darnos dentro de poco sus frutos rojos y jugosos para el guiso diario.

You place the small seed in the soil, trust in time, rain, and your own hands, and after a few weeks life responds with this lush green that brightens the view and feeds the soul.
Hay días en que el lomo duele de tanto agacharse, de regar, de quitar la mala hierba bajo el sol caliente, pero cuando una ve estos resultados, todo el cansancio se evapora al instante. Sembrar es un acto de fe. Una mete la semilla pequeña en la tierra osada y seca, confía en el tiempo, en la lluvia y en sus propias manos, y al cabo de unas semanas la vida responde con este verde frondoso que alegra la vista y alimenta el alma.
