Today I woke up with a heart full of joy and a great desire to share with you how beautiful our home garden is looking. The days have been fresh and every afternoon it brings me immense joy to walk around the yard to see how everything is progressing. I work day by day at home taking care of my family, but my greatest refuge and happiness is being close to the earth, caring for the plants that give us our daily food.	¡Hola, mi gente hermosa de Hive! Today I spent a lot of time under the wooden trellises that we built as a family to support the vines of our passion fruit plants. Since harvest time is getting close, I had to be patient and thoroughly clear away all the weeds around the area. Removing weeds is heavy work that causes backaches, but it is so rewarding to see the clear ground so the plants can breathe without competition. My husband and boys helped me build the wooden frame so the vines could climb strong and keep off the ground.	Hoy estuve metida bastante tiempo debajo de las trojas que armamos en familia para sostener los bejucos de las matas de parchita, o maracuyá como también le dicen en otros países. Como se acerca el tiempo de la cosecha, me tocó armarme de paciencia para ir limpiando bien todo el monte de alrededor. Quitar la maleza es un trabajo pesado que da dolor de espalda, pero da mucho gusto ver el suelo despejadito y libre para que las matas respiren sin competencia. Mi esposo y mis muchachos me ayudaron a levantar la estructura de madera para que los bejucos subieran bien fuertes y no tocaran el suelo.

Look, honestly, seeing the results of so much hard work fills me with deep emotion. The fruits are growing thick and tight, and there is a huge amount hanging everywhere. It is a very large and heavy harvest, much more than I ever imagined at first. We achieved all of this by working together as a family, without needing to spend lots of money on industrial fertilizers or chemical poisons that hurt the soil and our health in the long run. I don't like using chemicals on the food we eat. Here, what we give to the plants are simple things that come right from our kitchen: the water from washing rice before cooking, the soaking water from beans, chopped banana peels, and good wood ash tea. With that love, the soil becomes soft and full of life, and look how grateful the plants are, responding with healthy, clean fruit.	A mí no me gusta usar químicos en lo que nos vamos a comer. Aquí lo que le echamos a las matas son cosas sencillas que salen de la misma cocina de la casa: el agua donde lavo el arroz antes de cocinar, el agua del remojo de los frijoles, las conchas de cambur o banana picaditas y sus buenos caldos de ceniza de leña. Con ese cariñito la tierra se pone suave y llena de vida, y miren lo agradecidas que son las plantas que responden dándonos frutos sanos y limpios.
It is beautiful to stand still for a moment in the afternoon watching the large black carpenter bees, bumblebees, and different insects visit and pollinate the passion fruit flowers. Those white and purple flowers are a wonder of God. Watching the little bugs work from flower to flower makes me reflect on how wise nature is when left in peace.	Es hermoso quedarse un rato parada en las tardes viendo cómo llegan los cigarrones negros y grandes, los abejorros y diferentes insectos a visitar y polinizar las flores de la parchita. Esas flores moradas con blanco son una maravilla de Dios. Ver a los bichitos trabajar de flor en flor me hace pensar en lo sabia que es la naturaleza cuando uno la deja ser tranquila.

Honestly, I never expected such an overwhelming yield of fruit. There are so many passion fruits hanging that sometimes a few small ones drop to the ground. At first I felt bad, but I understood that the plants themselves are wise and drop a few to prioritize and give strength to the larger, well-formed ones.	En realidad yo no pensé que se iba a dar una carga tan exagerada de fruta. Son tantas las parchitas que están colgadas que a veces se caen algunas pequeñitas al suelo. Al principio me daba lástima, pero entendí que las mismísimas plantas son sabias y sueltan algunas para darle prioridad y toda la fuerza a las que están más grandes y formadas.

Very soon they will start turning yellow and juicy to make fresh juices for our lunch. It gives such great satisfaction to know that with patience, humble work, and respecting the land, a homemaker can bring forward her own home garden.	Ya dentro de muy poco empezaran a ponerse amarillitas y jugosas para hacer nuestros jugos frescos en el almuerzo. Da una satisfacción tan grande saber que con paciencia, trabajo humilde y respetando la tierra, una ama de casa puede sacar adelante su propio conuco.
