Hello, dear friends of Hive Garden! I am @lcampesina, and today I want to share a piece of my daily life in my small plot of land. Just as I was getting ready to start weeding and cleaning up the conuco, I received a wonderful surprise: a visit from my sister Elizabeth. She also loves working in the fields, so having her by my side while caring for the soil made this day extra special. Working together with family always brings a unique energy to the garden, filled with laughter, shared memories, and a mutual passion for watching things grow naturally.

During our walkthrough, I was deeply pleased to see how well my tomato plants have recovered. A few days ago, I applied a natural wood ash solution (caldo de ceniza) to protect them, and the results have been remarkable. The leaves look healthy, green, and full of vitality. It is always rewarding to witness how simple, organic, traditional remedies can give our crops a second life without relying on harsh chemical products. Organic farming takes patience, but moments like this prove that every effort is worth it.

However, not everything in the garden is completely trouble-free. I noticed with a bit of concern that a small portion of my passion fruit (parchitas) is getting wrinkled and falling off prematurely. I am still not entirely sure what is causing this—whether it is a nutrient gap, watering issue, or a pest—but I am staying positive because the vast majority of the vine is thriving. There is still a huge quantity of large, green passion fruits hanging from the trellis, growing beautifully day by day.

Seeing the fruits of several months of dedicated care is one of the most beautiful feelings imaginable. Right now, I am also eagerly waiting for my zucchini (calabacín) plant to set a fruit properly. My main goal with this zucchini is to let it mature completely so I can harvest and save its seeds for future plantings. The same goes for my culantro (cilantro España); after using it to season so many delicious meals, I am now letting the plants go to flower and produce seeds to keep the cycle going.

Local demand for fresh passion fruit has grown lately. Several neighbors and acquaintances have already approached me asking if I have passion fruit available for sale. My niece mentioned that wholesale passion fruit (maracuyá) here in Venezuela is currently fetching around $2.4 per kilogram. Selling a portion of my harvest would be a tremendous help for my household, as those extra earnings will allow us to buy protein and other essential groceries for our home.
