Feasibility study provides evidence of external perception

In a feasibility study, German scientists have investigated the standardized method of remote viewing, ie the so-called external perception, whether people are able to obtain information without making use of the five known senses. The result is so significant that the scientists have come to the conclusion that man actually possesses this ability.

Does man possess the ability to be remote?

Freiburg / Hamburg (Germany). Many people report that they have had a very funny experience: A funny feeling. Something has just happened. Later it turned out that a close person had a bad accident or even died. The feeling is described as so strange that these people - often under witnesses - even notice the time of the feeling, which coincides with the connected event. Of these experiences, however, there are only numerous reports, but no scientific evidence. So the question arises: does man possess, under certain circumstances, the ability to perceive the distance?

Already in the past, secret services and the military have tried to prove this ability of the human being and make use of it for themselves. Within the framework of the Stargate program of the US military, a method for remote viewing was developed and optimized in 1978. "The procedure investigated in our study is based on the original protocol, which was used in secreted projects between 1978 and 1995," says Maximilian Müller of the Helmut Schmidt University / University of the German Armed Forces in Hamburg. Together with the psychologist Dr. Marc Wittmann from the Institute for Psychology and Psychohygiene, the scientists published their study in the journal of Anomalistics (July 2017, volume 17, pages 83-104).

36 subjects under complete field stimulation

For the study, 36 random samples were stimulated in single experiments by a so-called whole-field method. A whole-field is a complete homogeneous environment in which the constant "mental noise" is to be reduced. The basic idea behind such a whole field, which has already been used for various parapsychological experiments, is the systematic elimination of the external stimuli. In this way, the nervous system will automatically look for stimuli after a while. It is assumed that the probability of very weak stimulations (such as, for example, messages from the own unconscious) also increases. Input, which is usually submerged in the everyday over-stimulus.

Already earlier attempts with whole fields have shown that the human brain can not pay much attention to such a monotonous environment, and that the brain is then occupied with itself. This monotonic stimulation induces, after a few minutes, that random images appear and disappear before the inner eye of the experimental person.

After the test persons had completed the RV session with full field stimulation, they should each describe one of six photos (so-called targets) in an opaque and closed envelope only by their spontaneous perception and make sketches of them. Subsequently, all six photos were dis- played and the respondent should make a consensus on his own sketches.

The experiment was double-blind, that is, neither the experimenter nor the experimenter knew which target was in which envelope. Since the envelopes were provided with different combinations of numbers, only one person who was uninvolved in the actual experiment knew which targets were in which envelope.

The random probability of 36 people and six targets shows that six targets are randomly assigned with the highest ranking.

14 of 36 - the probability is actually 0.09 percent

In fact, it was assessed in 14 cases with the highest consistency, which is a statistically highly significant result, "says Müller. The probability of the result being purely coincidence is 0.09 percent. "In addition, the actual target was judged with the second highest agreement in 12 cases. Considering this result in the overall evaluation, a hit probability of 72.2 percent results instead of the expected 33.3 percent. "

Even the overall distribution of the individual ranking positions of the targets shows a high significant deviation from the expected value. As a result, the authors of the study consider that an abnormal information transfer might have taken place.

Müller adds: "Furthermore, every person seems to have the ability to achieve results with the RV protocol, albeit in different quality."

New and better experiments are already underway

Wittmann and Müller are currently working on two further RV studies with improved experimental setup on the one hand to repeat the results and to test the RV protocol for future events.

"Further studies of this kind will be necessary to replicate and better understand the results. Until now, this is an anomaly that is difficult to classify into the standard model of science, "says Wittmann and Müller.
