Cultivate reading.

It is well known that in Venezuela unfortunately there is no culture of reading, as it may exist in other countries, as a Venezuelan this lack of reading culture makes me very sad, unfortunately children are not motivated to read, Venezuelans still do not realize that reading gives you freedom.

I remember a proverb that for centuries and has been attributed to many different people, including Benjamin Franklin, Mark Twain and Albert Einstein.

"The more you read, the more you know. The more you know, the farther you'll go."

Based on these words, particularly my wife and I, we instill them in our daughters, but also in my classes, where the first three units, the topics are a lot of theory, being theory, many of the students do poorly when I do the evaluations, the weakness is precisely reading, as there is no culture of reading, unfortunately the students are very lazy to read, in my classes I always emphasize how important reading is.

My home library is small, there I have books that are mine and there are also my thesis, which sometimes I have lent them to my students, so that they have reference of the topics addressed in them, however, every time I want to read a book that I do not have, I can borrow books from the library in my beloved university, as a teacher I have that opportunity, the loan time is a maximum of one week, if I want to continue having it in my possession I must go to renew the permit, but when the book interests me in less than a week I get to read it.

I have two weekends reading with my daughters the book I read when I was 11 years old, I think it was one of my first books, it is called The man who calculated, it was written by the Brazilian J煤lio C茅sar de Mello e Souza, under the pseudonym of Malba Tahan, that book opened a world of opportunities for me because from there somehow I began to really love mathematics.

I have two weekends reading it, we are reading that book by chapter, all of them are very interesting, but this weekend we are reading chapter VII called The four, fours.

alt

We are reading a few chapters, because this weekend my daughters have to study, my oldest daughter I have to help her with the studies of Physics, chemistry and mathematics, and with my youngest daughter I have to correct an essay she has to present next Monday that talks about sovereignty of the nation and geography, that essay will keep us busy because my daughter has to read some articles of the constitution of the nation as well as the laws that derive from those articles with respect to the sovereignty of the nation. For this reason we are gradually reading that book by the man who calculated.

You may wonder why you read it with them, the answer is simple because although as I said, we have instilled reading, since they were very small before shortening I always read them a book, let's be honest, not the whole book, but I was reading little by little every day, I still have that culture and I always look for a space in the evenings to be able to continue with that culture and I can also call it a habit that we have in this home, something that I repeat to my daughters I do not have monetary fortune, but my best inheritance will be to leave them a lot of learning and that is obtained with reading.

As for music for this weekend I can say that my musical tastes are very varied, however, both my daughters and I know how to study listening to music, but I am sure that this weekend I will be listening to one of the favorite singers of my daughters who in recent times is very high in the musical arena, I mean Taylor Swift, she is among those current artists that I really like her music, I will have no problem so I will be listening while I will be supporting my daughters in their studies for this weekend.
