Good evening, September already; this year has gone quickly. It is time for my monthly reading recap post, something I have got into the habit of doing each month this year to track my reading progress and share insights into what I am reading.
On paper, it looks like a bad month, having only managed to finish one book, but the positive is that I have a few books above 50%, and it should allow me to catch back up in September's recap to hit my 30 books in a year goal. Another positive is it seems like the Summer heatwaves in my area in the UK are well and truly over, allowing me to settle down more and be productive with reading and other things in general. Of course, the biggest positive I take from August is that I completed the third and final book in the Hunger Games trilogy. I loved the series and the films. Despite the original trilogy being done and over with, I now have two prequels to dive into, adding to an already piled-up TBR list.
I have recently been playing around with my Kindle E-reader after getting bored with the ads, lack of customisation and organising. I have pulled a few strings and got it to how I like it.
The number of books currently on display is large, and I am still in the process of putting them into genre categories and series linking. I really like that I have such a wide variety of books to read, too and that I am not just sticking to one genre and always mixing it up.
As well as using Goodreads and Fable for my book tracking, I found a site called Hardcover, and it seems easy to use. I've set it up to auto-track and update my reading from the Kindle, so although I use a third book tracker, it shouldn't be any extra hassle. I keep using multiple book-tracking apps because they all have pros and cons, and none of them really stands out from the others. For instance, Goodreads, despite Amazon continuing to ruin it, has the largest catalogue of books and is considered the original book tracking app. Fable, on the other hand, has social book clubs where I can talk to people and engage on a current chosen book for the month and even vote in polls for future reads. I find it also gives the best stats and insights out of the 3 book trackers I use. As for Hardcover, I am still new to it, but it seems more seamless than Goodreads and having it auto-update is very helpful.
Heading into September, I am looking to spend more time reading, and I think that will be very achievable with rain scheduled over the next week and temperatures beginning to drop. I will start spending more time indoors. And with that, I wrap up today's post. Thank you for reading.
