Time heals all pains,
Time heals all wounds,
Time answers all questions,
Time is all we need,
'Cos in time, this too shall pass!'

Flash back. Press Play. Rewind. Pause!

There you are! Cute little boy. Fanciful smile with perfect dentition.

I remembered this snapshot, you were 5-years old way back then;

"I want to be a Doctor" I blurted out.
We were in class and my class teacher was asking every pupil in Primary 1A; "What would you love to be when you finally come of age in this world?"

Way back, every little boys and girls my age dream of becoming a Doctor, Lawyer, Judge, Police Man, Air Force Officer, Pilot... Only Victor screamed, "I want to become the President!" And everyone of us in the classroom busted out with laughter. President indeed!

Overtime, I realized at High School that my grades in science subjects such as; Physics, Geography and Further Maths was not all that encouraging. I tried so hard to improved my grades in all these subjects but trust me, it was like trying to 'Do the Dew,' I just couldn't 'Do the Dew!'

I hated Further Maths like hell!

Why would you keep asking me to keep racking my brain to find the coefficient between 'A1and 3C?' Or why must I be trying to figure out figures that has no value to my everyday life?

"I just want to be a doctor!" I often screamed out at my colleagues during preparatory class towards our forth coming mock examination.

Don't get me wrong, I was a very brilliant student way back; brilliant enough to be the Assistant Head Prefect to that tall-muscular boy; Moses!

Moses got that post simply because he was the tallest and most musculared boy in school way back; just his thunderous deep baritone's voice was more than enough to calm every revolt! When he talks; he possessed this commanding aura like a general in the military cantonment. I have to acquiesced to that grudgingly though. That will be a story for another day (smiles).

I thought to be a Medical Doctor all you needed was excellent grades in Maths, English, Physical Health Education, Biology and Chemistry? I have got good grades in these above mentioned subjects yet I opted out of Science Class simply because my guidance counsellor told me I would do just fine as a Banker or An Accountant as a result of my highly retentive memory!

I was advised to focus my energy and passion on Arts and Commerce!

So that was how I gave up on my childhood dream of being a Medical Practitioner!

Reality Check Number one for me in life!

Time... Time... Time...

To be continue...
