ENGLISH

Sometimes it's annoying to refer to Valencia (my hometown) as "the one in Venezuela," because the first one that comes to mind is the one in Spain, a country that colonized Venezuela over 300 years ago.

I am one of those who believe that playing the victim role only causes more setbacks.

We should not forget history, but I advocate for consolidating an identity that brings ingenuity and progress.

But I don't feel that way when it comes to saying Valencia, Venezuela, because the original Valencia in the collective imagination sounds better.

Maybe it's just me, and if so, that's even better.
