Welcome to my Splinterlands Weekly Social Media Challenge. Hi Splinters, I'm Lagnarok, and I'm back again to share another battle for the Weekly Social Media challenge. For some reason, the Keep Your Distance ruleset is very annoying and easy for seasoned players to cope with and counter your line-up within this situation. This is how I get out of this predicament with a dangerous lady.

Iza The Fanged Synopsis (Edited)

Rumors spread in the villages that if you wander too far into the jungles of Azmare that you'll be snatched by Iza the Fanged. She does not use her fangs or teeth to grab you—but the jungle itself. Depending on her mood, she'll drag you to some deep cave and place you before her to serve dinner or plaything. It is a tale parents use to keep their children close to home. Villagers and travellers laugh it off as a spooky campfire story. But every year, the disappearances continue, so the rumours persist. Iza enjoys spreading rumours about her, although she points out that her appetite is not for children. Iza does not know where she came from, except that she was born with the heart of a serpent. Her earliest memories are of trees all around her, covered in snakes. Iza moves silently, almost invisible, within the jungle. Read More.

Smile of The Death

The battle happened on Silver League Wild Format in a Ranked match, With the 'Keep Your Distance ruleset,' 21 mana caps, and only 4 splinters options for you to pick, making this battle more tricky than usual.

ruleset.jpg

With 4 Splinters as an option, with Keep Your Distance ruleset and limited choice, I decided to use Earth Splinter and use Sneak ability as my Main Meta, knowing my enemy would use a monster with a magic reflection ability.

PostCardAbilityPlan
Summoner+1 MagicObsidian is an Earth Summoner from the Chaos Legion expansion pack. This summoner is very popular among Earth players since with this summoner, every monster with magic-type will be given a buff +1 magic attack. With the Keep Your Distance ruleset, I believe Earth Splinter is the best choice. With Magic, my lineup will easily bypass any armor.
Main TankReflectionFailed Summoner is a non-combatant monster and very popular. Be it Wild Format or Modern Format players, even higher league often use this Failed Summoner because this monster has considerable high hit points with the annoying ability and only needs 2 mana, so I decided to use this monster just in case the enemy decides to use magic-type like me so Failed Summoner will counter it.
SecondSneakGoblin Sorcerer is a magic-type monster from the Beta expansion pack. What is special about this Goblin Sorcerer is that it can attack the latest monster from the enemy lineup with its Sneak ability with decent magic damage even without Obsidian buff.
ThirdTank HealKhmer Princess is a small mana monster with a great ability Tank Heal, Khmer Princess is a magic-type monster with 2 mana consumed, and this Khmer Princess is a monster from Untamed Expansion pack.
FourthProtect, AmplifyQueen Mycelia is a Legendary monster from the Chaos Expansion pack. This monster is magic-type with Protect and Amplify abilities; with Keep Your Distance Ruleset, I suspect my enemy will be using magic-type monsters with Amplify ability reflection damage will be greater than usual.
FifthSneak, ScavengerIza The Fanged is Legendary from the Chaos Legion expansion pack. Since this is a Low mana caps battle, I expected my enemy would use small mana monsters, most of them have low hit points, and Iza The Fanged will able to collect souls from monsters who died in the battle.
SixthScattershotI decide to use Acid Shooter because of its Scatter Shoot ability. I don't want to target my enemy tank because I believe he will use something to stop it easily. With scattershot ability, I hope Acid Shooter can target my enemy's backline.

Round 1: The Beginning

  • After a series of buffs from both parties, the battle starts when Iza The Fanged kills the enemy's Lensmaster and collects its soul. Venari Crystalsmith attacks Failed Summoner while Drawven Wizard tries to kill my Goblin Sorcerer with Snip ability and leaves him wounded.

  • Dax Paragon attacks Failed Summoner and reflect him, and both are wounded. Acid Shooter attacks Draven Wizard and tears down its armor, Goblin Sorcerer attacks Veneri Crystalsmith, leaving her 2 more hit point, and the Round end with Khmer Princess and Queen Mycelia attacking the enemy's Pelacor Conjurer with magic and, as a result, wounded both of them too.

Round 2

  • The Battle opens with Iza The Fanged killing leftover Venari Crystalsmith. At the same time, Drawven Wizard kills Goblin Sorcerer, Dax Paragon tries to wound Failed Summoner but is killed with Magic Reflection, and Iza The Fanged collects souls three of them.

2.gif

  • Acid Shooter shoots its arrow and targets Lord Arianthus but reflects while Khmer Princess kills Pelacor Conjurer and gets killed with its Reflection after. The Round closed with Queen Mycelia attacking Lord Arianthus and reflected and left it near-death state.

Round 3

3.gif

  • Iza The Fanged tried to kill Drawven Wizard but failed; at the same time, Drawven Wizard kills Queen Mycelia, and In fury, Acid Shooter kills Drawven Wizard and only leaves Lord Arianthus alone.

Round 4 - 7: Final

  • Enemy's Lineup only left non-combatant Lord Arianthus, Acid Shooter, and Iza The Fanged furiously attacked Lord Arianthus, and it died at Round 7, and the battle ended.

Did My strategy Work?

I can say my Strategy worked but not perfectly. I did expect my enemy would use a monster with magic reflection as a tank, and knowing that I decided to use Sneak Meta for my Lineup. I didn't expect my enemy to choose Ilthain as his summoner, and the battle worsened with Dax Paragon.

Ilthian summoner gives buff to monsters with +1 speed and Return Fire ability, while Dax Paragon's Amplify ability strengthens Return Fire and Reflection ability, Fortunately, I choose Sneak as my Meta with Iza the Fanged's Scavenger ability and collecting fallen monster's soul to strengthen its Hit points make it can buy some time.
