Is the weather in your area just as unpredictable? It feels as if summer wants to arrive, yet somehow still cannot fully make up its mind. The nights, evenings, and mornings can still be quite chilly, and only during the day does the weather become a little more pleasant. The temperature swings are really significant. Sometimes I think that even nature itself must be confused by all of this.
I have even seen posts on social media showing mushrooms appearing in some forests—species that we usually associate with autumn. And not just a few here and there, but in surprisingly large numbers. Maybe I will take a walk through the forest myself soon and see what I can find. :D
For now, however, spring is still making itself known in our fields. The landscape is still painted red, poppies are still blooming and today I would like to share with you another collection of photographs from the countryside.
I still have not managed to find a large poppy field to photograph, but smaller patches are just as enjoyable. Sometimes you do not need an endless sea of flowers to appreciate their beauty. A handful of scarlet blooms swaying in the wind can brighten a day just as much.
I did a little research about poppies and discovered that a single seed capsule can contain up to tens of thousands of seeds. I have to admit that I find it hard to believe. It seems almost unbelievable that such a small flower can hold so many seeds! This is exactly why poppies are able to spread so quickly and sometimes create entire red carpets stretching across huge fields.
Their petals are very delicate and close in the evening, as well as during rain or heavy cloud cover. In this way, they protect their pollen from moisture. The structure of the petals is incredibly thin and resembles tissue paper or silk. That is why even the slightest breeze can set them into their characteristic dance, which on the one hand looks beautiful, but on the other can make life quite difficult for a photographer. 😄📷
