Sometimes, all I want to eat is some good local comfort food. It doesn’t matter if it’s a holiday or the weekend, when the heart feels like having something close to home, everything else just falls flat.
My choice would be Song Kee Fishball noodles. This is one of the very reputable and famous stalls around with a long history. They hand make all their ingredients and everything is served fresh daily.
I was definitely not let down by the bowl of noodles, mixed with their special vinegar sauce. The fishballs and meatballs were bouncy and meaty and delicious. What I loved especially was their “har jiao” aka fish dumplings. These are something that are pretty hard to find nowadays (at least those which are authentically handmade).
I ordered a separate plate of “wu xiang” which actually means “5 spice roll”, a mixture of meats wrapped in beancurd skin and deep fried into a savoury crispy dish. The term however has evolved into a selection of deep fried dishes nowadays.
Well, perhaps I’ll go into that another day, but I definitely loved the food and it satisfied my cravings. :)
