After my observation for almost one month at the school of my daughter Shun Leanne, I decided to start again with our homeschool tutoring. I think this is for her own good.
WHAT HAPPENED TODAY?
Today is just a fine day. No new, just our daily routine. But this afternoon, I decided to start our home study for almost two hours and I hope this would be happening every day, it is because Shun Leanne's focus is more on playing and even forget things to remember, been too lazy too. So, I think it is the right time to start her study habit. Yet I know that playing time is normal for kids like her. I just don't want to make this her daily routine though we do have her time for playing, I still want her to know the importance of studying at her age. Especially when I found out that one of her classmates help her to do their activities even writing her name and number activities, I hate it knowing what she had done. Since the class does have almost 35 pupils and as a teacher, I know that she can't even cater them one by one. And seeing her performance, her daily activities, I conclude she really needs more practice and discipline and I hope I can do it right. I am not putting any pressure no her but I just want her to help out since I am not that busy and I can still spare time with her more than if I am working.
Yes! I don't need to hire any tutor for her since I know I can do it. I know my daughter well so I think I can still apply some positive reinforcement and I can apply my patience with her. If I succeed in helping her out, I think I can be a good teacher too, lol.
We started again with writing capital letter A and small letter a plus I add-up with three words at the back that is 3-letter words only. From the letter "A" and "a" then the words at the back are "am, ant, and axe." So, she can practice additional words in her vocabulary and be learning to spell too plus I used to add sounds since she needs to review her sounding for her assessment this coming July though she knows more than I expect when it comes to sound but reviewing and practicing is quite an advantage.
And I am still hoping that she will have this kind of aura again for tomorrow's session. Luckily, she is morning session so we got more time on her home study but I always make sure before that she be able to sleep to energize.
Of course, not all the time is writing. Though partly that one is the most basic and complicated thing. My daughter is left handed and writing is a bit uneasy. So, in order to catch up her attention span. I also prepare for her coloring activity since I believe that playing is learning too.
She is more familiar with the 8 colors, she memorized and she can even identify already the colors but what before she can color the box, I am asking her to look at the spelling of each of the colors then spell it while looking at it then for the second time of reading, she must spell it with its sound - each letter sounds. I should make my ways so she can still incorporate the sounding in each of her activity. After she finishes her coloring activity, she is still active so she asks me if she can draw a house in her paper so I gave her one bond paper and I let her draw it and instruct her to color it.
As she finishes today, I treated her with 3 pieces Tempura and seems she is really hungry with our afternoon session.
Being a mother with this little girl, it needs so much patience but what can I do? That's my responsibilities, of course. Honestly, I am enjoying this and I can be able to bond with my daughter without any expenses. We just enjoy being together and keep on learning. This actually not just her own learning but I am also learning. It is not because being a teacher is just you had to give total learning to your students but it is seeing them succeed is such the achievement for both of you and learning to love them is a continuous learning.
