Carpal Tunnel is a compression of nerve in the hand that causes pain and or numbness.
It is cause in numerous ways like typing, overuse of hands in work, from construction to office work and is becoming more prominent as we work more and more with fine motor hand skills.
The compression is cause primarily by the Transverse Carpal Tendon. It compresses either the median or ulna nerves which causes the difficulty.
Left untreated in can lead to the need for surgery.
There are 4 points on the palm that we work with to release the stress on the tightened tendons.
Start with the midpoint of the thumb pad at a location under L-10,press and hold this firmly for a second or two then slowly release.
After allowing the palm to relax a second or two repeat this 2 more time (3 in all).
Repeat this now for the point in between the two meta-carpals of the small finger side, diagonally across the palm to the heart 8 point, 3 press and release.
Next move to the point across in between the meta carpals of the index and second finger to repeat the press and release 3 times.
Finally move diagonally across the hand to the heal of the palm to repeat the press and release 3 more times.
This will release the tightened tendon so that nerve impulses can now flow more naturally.
After releasing the tendons tap the nerves of the inner forearm to stimulate nerve transmission and exercise (so to say) those natural impulses once again, unhindered now.
It should be noted that Carpal Tunnel Syndrome can be bilateral, so once you relieve the staress on the affected hand and arm, apply also to the seemingly unaffected side as a preventative measure.
