Hello,
Belatedly in life, I started to appreciate art in all its forms; from graceful curves and vibrant color on a canvas, to the melodic flow of words on paper, .. even the rhythms of thought from great thinkers in times past and present. When I was younger, set on a path to higher education, driven by circumstance, and hindered by culture, my perspective remained narrow and my methodical brain couldn't seem to process the kind of freedom of thought needed to truly appreciate the nuances of beautiful works.
I started taking art classes a couple years ago, and am amazed at how much there is to learn, and how much the arts tell us about ourselves, who we are as a people, and even the history of humanity. I still have a long way to go to truly appreciate the depths of creative expression, and to some degree have resigned myself to the fact that my brain is and always will be a bit square 😉, ..but I continue to find myself compelled to explore this wonderful world of art and life; and as I do, I hope to share what I learn.
Thus far, the most valuable insight I've gained came from this quote by Mother Teresa..
"Don't try to do great things, do small things with great love."
Sometimes, the simplest phrase can bring into focus something so unbelievably significant. I realized, though we should plan for the big things in life, we shouldn't get too caught up in the things of the world, as the most precious thing is actually this moment. Not what comes from it, but how we choose to experience it, irrespective of circumstance.

Ps.. I'm reposting this as I realized I'm such a dork that I misspelled 'introduceyourself' 🙈 and tagged my initial post wrong, .. therefore, haven't actually introduced to most here. So I thought I would add a few notes on Steemit and cryptocurrency since I'm reposting anyways.
What a wonderful idea! I just discovered the site a few days ago, and I'm already in love with it. I have been meaning to start a blog just to chronicle and organize the things I come across for a while, but haven't yet done so. This gave me the perfect place and motivation to start. A few things I hope will be added.. First, the ability to delete or at least hide posts for those like me who will likely find a way to mess up again 😅. Maybe also enable edit tags, and add easier way to add images for profile and banner. The dollar sign beside the steem rewards seems a little confusing to those new to understanding cryptocurrency and Steem, maybe a steem icon would look nicer?
I actually didn't know anything about cryptocurrency til a week ago. My mother, who has two masters degrees in business and accounting, takes care of most of our finances.. So even now, since math has never been one of my stronger subjects, I leave the hard stuff to her and just take care of the simpler day to day stuff. But she's traveling abroad for a few months and not able to invest, so she asked me to look into it. I went from not knowing anything to trying to understand the fundamentals these past few days.
This is what I've learned.. Cryptocurrency is a digital type of monetary system that gained acceptance due to the inability to copy the coding that makes up the block of information that comprises it. It is permanent and unalterable. There three major types of investing opportunities.. In coins, utility tokens, and in tokenized securities. Coins are the actual digital currencies, utility tokens are services granted to help funding, and tokenized securities are like shares of stocks.
Cryptocurrency is immutable, decentralized, peer to peer, distributed, and backed by cryptographic verification. It is only one application of blockchain technology. Blockchains are based on units of computer programs called records. There is another unit of computer programming called arrays.. I wonder if there is any technology based on it?.. I haven't had time to read further into it.
As far as steem is concerned.. Steem is the actual currency, Steem Dollar is like an interest bearing savings account, and Steem Power is like buying stock and having shares in the company. And the steem generated by our posts is divided between the authors and those who upvote, which is an incredibly fair system; and is credited to us in part by Steem Dollar, and in part by Steem Power, though we can select no payment, or only in Steem Power.
