Preparing for an examination can be very exhausting, especially for a lot of us who never bother to study all through the semester until a few days before exams. That's usually when we start something called "night class" and start reading all through the night like a philosophical night guard. This method works well for me and my circle of friends and has helped us pass all our exams.

One of the best exams I wrote in the university is computer science and it's not a course native to us in the faculty of agriculture but it's compulsory for all students of the university to take it. I had no problem with the course and it was very easy for me to grasp the concept because of my natural affinity for computers (kinda makes you wonder why the hell I'm in a faculty like agriculture and not computer science) but for my friends and a majority of the class, not so much.

On the day before the exam, my closest friends and I planned to read together all through the night and we decided to do it in one of our rooms. It was very convenient for me because my room is just opposite my friend's own and I can go back to my room to sleep when I'm done reading. The plan was to start reading once it was 6 pm and when it was time, I took my books to my friend's room.

I got there and nobody was ready as they were all chitchatting and laughing. "Has the exam been canceled and I didn't know about it", I said to myself. I told them we should start reading since we had a lot to cover but they postponed it to 7 pm, I was looking at them in disbelief. I just started reading on my own, at least it will be a good idea to have a headstart. It was 7 pm and these people were still discussing random topics. "Don't worry we will join you in an hour, we should be done with reading before midnight", one of them said.

I just smiled and continued reading. Soon after, it was 9 pm and one of them said "You know what, we will sleep for a while and wake up later to read, just wake us up when you're ready to leave so we can start reading". I was happy with the peace and quiet that came when my friends started sleeping. Once in a while, I looked at that as they were sleeping and kept asking myself; "are you sure these guys are writing the same exam as me tomorrow?", "Maybe they have given up on the exam".

I continued reading until midnight, by then I was feeling sleepy and I felt ready for the exam, so I decided to retire to my room. Before leaving, I woke up one of my friends and told him to wake the rest so they could start reading, and then I left. That was the mistake I made because immediately I got to my room and looked out my window, I saw that my friend had turned off the light in his room, which meant the sleep was just getting started. I assumed they would probably wake up later on, so I went to bed too.

I woke up the next morning to repeated screams of "Jesus", "shit" and a lot of swearing. I could already guess what happened, these dumbos were just waking from their eternal sleep, and they didn't read at all throughout the night! I went over to the room and saw them opening up materials and textbooks trying to read for an exam that would begin in less than 2 hours. "Are you guys trying to read a material I couldn't finish in 6 hours under 2 hours?", I asked.

They blamed me for not waking them up when I was leaving. "but I woke Gift when I was leaving, didn't he tell you guys?". It turned out he did but what did they do? They all went back to sleep! so he gave up and just turned off the light so that everybody could sleep comfortably. But now, the exam was in 2 hours and none of them was ready, I was the only one with a smile on my face looking at all the chaos that morning. One of them was already making plans on how he would prepare for the course the following year, coz he could already see himself failing.

Well, I told them to just stay close to me in the exam hall so I could help them. Luckily for us, we all sat together during the exam and I helped everyone. The result came out a few weeks later and nobody got less than a B, and yes, I'm proud of myself, I was able to save my friends from total annihilation. Of course I got an A, it would have been a shame if I got anything lower than that after all the preparation.
