In 2021, an Italian artist named Salvatore Garau sold an invisible sculpture called Io Sono (which means "I Am") for over $18,000.
The sculpture doesn’t exist physically; there’s nothing to see. The buyer only got a certificate proving they owned it and instructions on where to imagine it.
Garau said the artwork is made of "air and spirit." The sale surprised many people and caused a lot of debate about what can be considered art today.
Some people saw it as a powerful and creative statement, while others thought it was strange or even pointless. But one thing’s for sure: it got people talking about art in a whole new way.
