Intro

Lots of us have been waiting to build Amazon decks after the CSR. It's going to take a while to get the new cards, but many of the existing cards have been boosted making Amazons better immediately. Here is the deck I'm using, where I'm heading, and a gameplay vid to see it in action.

The deck is only expensive because of the Underbrush Boars, and as you'll see, I'm planning to remove them as I get more cards.

New CSR Cards

I've managed to get my hands on 1x Barksworn Protector and 1x Sanctum Guardian. They are amazing cards, so they immediately went into the deck. They will eventually be 2x of both.

As you'll see in the gameplay video, Ward is a huge advantage against removal-heavy decks like Magic/Deception/Death/Nature. The hidden on Barksworn Ranger would be more helpful against creature decks like Light and War, but with the current meta, the ward is much more valuable. Riverjumper Captain is potentially an amazing card, but it's terrible if you're behind, which isn't great. Worth testing given that the 4 hp and Ward is guaranteed.

Canopy Sniper is the other card that will likely see a 2x inclusion in the deck. The idea would be to open with Nimble Pixies and then drop the Sniper turn 2 to take out creatures while going face. Combined with Faeflame Blade, the sheer amount of damage that can be put out in a turn will be a nightmare for opponents. At 2 mana, you can hold on to her until you have that wide board and drop her along with other cheap creatures before going face with lots of small creatures.

It's hard to know exactly what the final deck will look like, but here is my current guess.

Underbrush Boars are amazing, so they may end up back in, but they aren't amazons. The win condition for this deck is having amazons on the board at 5 mana and then buffing them.

Play guide

God Power

Probably Animal Bond. Not an amazon obviously, but a few of your cards just need other creatures (of any kind) on board.

Mulligan

In the mulligan going first, you're looking to drop 2 1-mana creatures first turn. Against magic, consider a warded creature instead. I'm still thinking this strategy over, though. Arkmonian Onslaught is our win condition, so trying to get it in the mulligan phase may be best. Otherwise, removal (e.g. Faeflame blade) for the third card is great.

Going second, you're looking for removal. If you can keep the board clear for 1-2 turns, you can drop multiple cheap creatures at once and take over the board.

General Strategy

Hold the board until 5 mana and hope to draw either Myrto's Daughter or Arkmonian Onslaught. In the mean time, try to generate favor with your token creatures to control the sanctum.

Pixies are a big part of the amazon game. Don't forget they have flank! After any character attacks (including your god), the Pixies can go around front liners and hit backline creatures or the God directly. They cannot hit hidden or ordered creatures, though. For those, you're relying on Primal Guidance, Canopy Carrage, and Canopy Sniper.

Gameplay

First Turn:
I start off with the wrong play. I decide to be greedy and play Pixie's + Nightleaf, but I should have played the warded Protector. Tracking Bolt would have been bad news.

Second Turn:
I come back to my senses. I play the barksworn protect and then go face with Pixies to start generating favor and put pressure on my opponent.

Remaining Turns:
I control the board and with both Myrto's and Arkmonian in hand, things look pretty good. However, I take an extra turn to drop my warded Spell Catchers and relic removal from the Sanctum. This ends up being a critical decision, as it makes my follow-up Arkmonian incredibly strong and wins the game.

Those spell catchers in gold are beautiful, no? They are only $1 at the moment. Too bad I bought mine for $3 like an idiot! D.O. card inflation is real. I'll be looking to pick up more cards in gold for dirt cheap now, though.
