Queue Dodging what is it? What issues does it cause?
Greetings everyone. Welcome to another gods unchained post! Today we are going to talk about "Queue dodging", and some of you might wonder what the fuck that even means. Well in Gods Unchained it boils down to "Disconnecting before a match to cherry pick your matches" because in GU opponents can use the gamelog itself to actually tell what they are playing against before they play against it. Sites like gudecks.com display this information in an easy to parse format. So various players are disconnecting before matches to cherry pick only their ideal matches for their daily p2e. It damages competitive integrity, but more importantly makes queue times take way longer than they should with having to queue and requeue ad nausea.
Why is it a problem?
It ruins the competitive integrity of the game, and also makes it take forever to get a match OFTEN. And when you do they disconnect before the match begins because they don't like "playing against your archetype". It's kindof BS playing the game and then waiting to queue for 5-10 matches and after watching to even find a match you then get DCed because the opponent wants to essential exploit this weakness in the game's system.
How much of a problem is it?
This is a problem, but it's not even close to one of the biggest problems GU faces. There is a lot more that is at issue with the game becoming widely adoptable etc. this kindof is obnoxious for the remaining playerbase and makes it a bit harder to onboard. However it's something that is part of the death by a thousand cuts that a lot of the hardcore GU players are currently undergoing. It's an issue, but not the biggest one in the room.
Should I give a fuck? Why, why not?
Should you give a fuck about this? Yeah, but not as much as other pressing issues for the game. There being no f2p grind pipeline to interest new players in becoming addicted to the gameplay, rampant gamebreaking bugs, an unoptimized client that keeps you from opening packs etc. These are all bigger issues. Sure the queue dodging is obnoxious and makes playing daily a bit more annoying, but it's not as lethal as other pressing issues. Give a fuck, but don't have it be the first fuck to give. If that makes any sense. This issue is moreso something that should be brought up at the very least. The disconnects before matches can be tiresome. Maybe this is just a rant post to not continue to address more pressing issues, but so be it.
Talking Tidbits: IRL Chaos, New Set, Bloggin'
It has been quite a while since I've posted to my blog (two months of my job getting kindof crazy, moving etc.), a lot has been going on for me IRL and I've been having little sleep but am basically through the worst of it. Nothing bad mind you, just work etc. There is a new set coming in GU, so expect a tier list and set review and what not coming up. This post is to get back into the swing of posting and address a bit of a nuisance that I deal with during almost every dp2e. I'll also be regularly blogging again and try to put something out about something or other every few days. Also going to do a recap post of all the projects I've been involved with on this and other platforms when it comes to web3 gaming and what has become of them shortly (will be a long post but kindof sets everything straight on where things are located now). I'm still playing GU regularly, but not every project has had such luck of maintaining a playerbase and overall existence as a live service game, a lot of stuff has died or gone down weird directions. Anyways, I'll see you folks out in Eucos slapping shiney cards down on the board. Stay safe out there in this crazy world. Until next time, thanks for all the continued support everyone. You all rock.
