Got some great shots of this Steller's Jay and a squirrel, including one of them together. These two shots were shot at high res, then cropped in closer in post processing. Be sure to open these pics large view, especially the first two and last one!
Does this guy look like a bully or what? I didn't see him actually on the feeder, but picking around on the ground below. These guys look a lot different than the Blue Jays I was used to in Missouri, but they are just as noisy, with similar loud call.
Added the 1.4 TC (Teleconverter) to my lens to try some even closer in shots of the squirrel. Loving this superzoom lens, These are from about 30 yards away, using the 200-600 lens, the 1.4x TC and the extra 1.5x APS-C mode.
Just love the way this is able to pull them in close view! These are the actual shots from open window 30 yards out, no post cropping.
I actually had to zoom out to get them both in the frame. I was really kind of hoping the two would fight while I had the camera on them, but no such luck.
And then of course, I just had to test out the detail with a cropped version of just the Squirrel's head. Still a 1468 x 972 pixel image, even with the huge crop!
