So, last Saturday we had our hangout as usual, and it was just so much fun we did not want it to end. We are currently on the first topic for this week which is “NO MORE ALCOHOL”

But before we proceed with the details of the topic, let us take a look at the winners of the last one which was “DO YOU BELIEVE IN REHAB?” This topic was geared toward each member of the community telling us about their thoughts on the rehabilitation of criminals before releasing them back into society after they’ve served their time. Some believe that convicted criminals have the capacity to change, while some believe that they don’t.

We got to see that a lot goes into rehabilitating our prisoners, and the prison system is one that has to be changed so that people who go in will have the opportunity to come back better than when they went in. It all boils down to the society, in the end.

For this topic, we went through every entry post, and that is every post with the #hl-exclusive & #hl-w117e3 tag. And with the number of wonderful posts out there it was quite difficult to make a selection. But eventually, we did just that. And so, the posts that will be featured not just for their exceptional content, but also for their level of engagement with other authors will be listed below.

BREAKING THE CYCLE: REHABILITATION OR RECIDIVISM by nhaji01@nhaji01

This author told us that she believed that everyone deserved a second chance. The point of the rehabilitation centers or correctional facilities is so that the convicts can become better after serving their time. However, due to the system in place, many of them only get worse and when they’re released back to society, nothing really changes.

INVESTMENT OR WASTE IN REHABILITATION FINANCING by xlety@xlety

For this author, she believes that society should take a more active role in helping convicts become better and more productive citizens. With proper programs in place, every convict will be helped to reintegrate into society. Once this major hurdle is crossed, it’ll be easy for them to leave the life of crime behind.

A SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE shawnnft@shawnnft

This author gave us the different reasons people can end up in prisons. From wrongful arrests to lapse in judgment and criminal intent, however, there needs to be a more positive rehabilitation system that makes the convicts better and not worse so that when they are released, they do not become a menace to those around them.

Week 118 - Edition 01 Topic

NO MORE ALCOHOL

*“Are the damaging effects of alcoholic drinks any different from the damaging effects of hard drugs? Is one a lesser evil than the other? If you had the power, make alcoholic drinks a banned commodity just like drugs. Do you think it'll make the society any better? Please let us know.”
