A simple life and simple food from vegetables in our longan orchard with family.
Hello everyone. How are you today? I hope all is well with you and your family. Today is another day that my granddaughter and autistic son didn't go to school. So, my wife and I stayed put and spent another day at home, focusing on our time between the home and the garden.
My wife and I clearly divide our morning responsibilities. I am in charge of looking after our granddaughter and autistic son this morning , but my wife remains busy with housework.
After she finished some of the housework in the late morning. My wife and I take turns looking after our granddaughter and autistic son, she takes over looking after granddaughter and autistic son so I can go to our longan orchard (Approximately 600 meters).
Even though it is the rainy season, but the sky is clear and it is quite hot in the longan orchard this late morning. I spent a considerable amount of time inspecting the longan trees in my longan orchard. The blossoms have transitioned into small fruits, with almost no flowers remaining. And I plan to spray liquid fertilizer again in 1-2 days if it doesn't rain.
There are also various vegetables planting in the longan orchard. Before returning home, I harvested some vegetables for my wife to prepare for lunch too. This time I harvested vegetables : vegetable fern, malabar spinach, water spinach, and spur peppers from the longan orchard.
vegetable fern
malabar spinach
water spinach
spur peppers
All the vegetables I harvested this time.
Lunch today was cook from vegetables from our longan garden. My wife cooked a sour soup with vegetable fern, malabar spinach and minced pork. This sour soup was also our dinner.
Put a pot on the stove and boil water. This sour soup contains tamarind sauce, shrimp paste, and pork flavour seasoning powder. Then add the minced pork and boil until cooked, Then add the vegetable fern and malabar spinach to the pot and cook until cooked, then turn off the heat.

The second dish is stir-fried water spinach with soybean paste and oyster sauce. Water spinach from the longan orchard I harvested today, Add a little heat with spur chillies.
I was planning to do some gardening this afternoon and evening, but it rained so I didn't do anything. But my wife does a little housework and cooks dinner. For our dinner, apart from the leftover sour soup from lunchtime, she also cooked curry with pickled bamboo shoots and chicken giblet. The bamboo shoots were from the home garden, she had harvested them and pickled them a few days ago.
