The tips and possible advises in this article are designed for Bronze League, in which I am in right now.

Introduction

Lorkus is a formidable monster in Splinterlands with abilities that can counter your opponent's build.

However, due to his high mana cost, he can be challenging to use effectively. Despite this, his abilities are excellent. Even if you choose not to utilize the Life Leech component of his abilities, the Fury and Trample combo can still be used in conjunction with a melee monster, providing a considerable advantage.

This strategy is particularly effective in Stampede Rules of Combat battles, which are the example in this article.

I like using Lorkus's Life Leech and Affliction combo because of its versatility. Just slap it to your highest damage monster and it will give you a huge advantage.

Lorkus is actually hard to use due to his high mana cost but the abilities are really good as it can counter your opponent's builds. Let's say you don't like the Life Leech part, you could still use the Fury and Trample combo with a melee monster and will still gain a huge advantage especially since the battle sample for this article is on Stampede Rules of combat.

Abilities:

+1 melee: [Stat Modifier] Positive Status] All friendly monsters has their Melee Damage increased by 1.

+1 magic: [Stat Modifier] Positive Status] All friendly monsters has their Magic Damage increased by 1.

Lorkus's Tactics: [Summoner Tactics] During the battle, you can choose one set of abilities to be applied to a number of monsters you control.

Pros

  1. Amazing Abilities. Both his abilities are very offensive giving you a mixed chance between Melee and Magic damage. This flexibility is good because that immediately means you can dominate two rules of combat with one summoner, Up Close & Personal and Wands Out.
  2. Chaos Legion and Rebellion Combined. Lorkus fixes Rebellion summoner's problem which is that you can only buff some of your monsters and not all. This is why, sometimes, Chaos Legion summoners still go on top because in the battle of numbers, their simple abilities can win when you put the numbers of monsters affected.
  3. Compatible Dual Elements. He's a combination of Fire and Death elements which, if you've seen my post when I used Dolfar Darflak, means you can abuse the powerful Sneak monsters from both elements. But there are more monsters you can abuse as well, given that you can provide the mana cap for it.

Cons

  1. High Mana Cost.
With a mana cost of 7, he's one of the highest mana cost summoners to date. This also means you will be sacrificing some power from your monsters whenever you pick him. If your opponent choose a 3 mana cost summoner, that means they can use 4 mana cost more than you for their monsters. This either means another monster or you using Xenith Monk as your tank while your opponent uses someone like Diemonshark for theirs giving you the disadvantage.
  2. Not allowed in a lot of rules of combat.
Legendary summoners are the strongest summoners which means they can be the most limited ones. If Lorkus is the only summoner you have, you may need to surrender when he's unusable such as Little League rules of combat.
  3. Very Expensive to buy or rent.
Since Lorkus can be earned though airdrop, that also means he is quite expensive to be earned. The limited supply coupled with his usefulness makes up for this reason and is not ideal to be rented for high level, for long time or both.

All armor and effects that involve armor are disabled during this battle: Life Leech can only gain health when the opponent's health is damaged. Without armor, you can use monsters with high melee damage for sure Life Leech like Grum Flameblade.

Barashkukor.png
Barashkukor
His high magic damage complements Lorkus's Life Leech ability and his increased magic damage skill. This combo can give you around 3 max health every attack. He also have the Fury ability which does double damage to monsters with Taunt ability. This means if he attacks a Taunt monster for 12 total damage, you gain 6 max health from that one attack alone.
2.png
Immolation.png
Immolation
Immolation has the same strategy as Barashkukor but without the Fury ability benefit. His high magic damage gives you tons of max health per attack on top of his Scavenger ability starting at level 2.
3.png
Grum Flameblade.png
Grum Flameblade
Grum Flameblade is another high damage monster but this time, he's a melee monster. His Bloodlust ability means he can gain more damage and more Life Leech whenever he kills an opponent. Just remember that you need to hit an opponent's health in order to gain the Life Leech effect and hitting armor will not activate Life Leech ability.

This team is Life Leech reliant with both Immolation and Barashkukor carries. They gain high amounts of health per attack continously giving problems for your opponents. Immolation is placed in the back for his Shield in case the opponent does multiple Sneaks.

Lineup

Lorkus.png
Lorkus

One of the best summoners ever made from abilities to card design. He's expensive to rent though especially at high levels so it might be hard to enjoy him as your wallet gets emptied out.

Carrion Shade.png
Carrion Shade

A 1 mana cost monster to soften the blow. He's a fodder for Riftwing's Scavenger ability as well as target for Ravenhood Warden's Protect ability.

Chaos Agent.png
Chaos Agent

Same as Carrion Shade but a Neutral monster instead of Death Splinter. I have him as Gold foil for the extra rewards at the end of the game.

Riftwing.png
Riftwing

My main tank for this game. He really doesn't do anything but his high health and Scavenger ability is good for delaying the game until my carries gain the Health to overpower the opponent.

Barashkukor.png
Barashkukor

My first carry. His high damage is very scary especially since it is Magic damage and passes through armor. Life Leech also fixes his low health which is a big plus for a 13 mana cost monster.

Ravenhood Warden.png
Ravenhood Warden

Needed to be safeguarded for the Protect ability. He gives 2 armor to everyone allowing me to delay some of the deaths of my low mana cost monsters.

Immolation.png
Immolation

Another carry of mine for Lorkus. His Shield ability is very strong to serve as protection against Sneaks.

The early application of Affliction was really good as it stopped the Triage restoration to Iziar from Spirit Hoarder allowing me to quickly take down this Void-Taunt monster. Barashkukor's Fury ability also helped neutralize Iziar's Void ability. After that, it was a very easy game. The end game has my Barashkukor as the tank at 4 Health while Immolation is at 17 max health from the initial 9 because of Life Leech.

Author's Note Banner.gif

In my opinion, Lorkus is one of the best summoners ever designed in Splinterlands. The only downside is that he is quite expensive to rent due to its exceptional abilities, card design and the fact that you can only get him from airdrop. Although he may be a worthwhile investment if you have the budget, renting him at high levels can quickly deplete your wallet. However, this high rental cost comes with remarkable capabilities. Despite the financial investment needed to utilize his full potential, not many players are using him because of the expensive cost.
