It’s a late night here in Minneapolis. I’m just sitting down to blog at 1:30a.m. The window was almost closed, but I had such a productive day that I had to get a record of it on the blockchain. I had a shoot booked here in Minneapolis since April. Stephany, the model I shared in last night’s Hive post, booked a session with me in Minneapolis. As I’ve stated countless times here, I’m terrified of flying. Because of that, I’m always thrilled when a model is willing to come to me. She arrived Saturday afternoon and today was our chance to create something special together.
Early this morning, Stephany met with my friend Farah, owner of Lovely Organic Apothecary, for make-up and styling. Farah and I have worked together for years, so she knows my shooting style and unique approach to lighting. Once I arrived to pick Stephany up, I was quite impressed with the make-up look. The time of day was critical to how the lighting complimented the shoot. Late afternoon, the sun was setting in the west, cascading light and rainbows through the windows of my house. One of my favorite things to do to create drama within the images is to mix light sources. Candles and lamps, offering the warm light, and windows accenting a cooler luminance. During the final look and set, we included 
I have another shoot in Minneapolis on June 22nd, and then one more July 8th. It’s nice to have the opportunity to shoot here in my home city. I feel more creative and less fatigued since I’m not crushed down by travel. I’ve been extremely busy this year with four cross country trips already. I’m hoping for a productive rest of the month, but one that doesn’t require me to travel further than visiting
