If I push it a few more hours, the sun will be coming up. This is much later than I’d like to be posting, but alas, here I am. There’s some force in the universe that’s been getting in my way lately. A ton of little, annoying things breaking, out of stock, shipped to the wrong address and schedules being changed. First world problems, for sure, especially given the recent precursor to a potential World War, but my first paragraph of each night’s Hive post is for venting and, dammit, that’s what I’m going to do. I feel better now. See? I’ve always said these nightly blogs are therapeutic.

While I was at caffetto@caffetto trying to relax after a particularly bad encounter with installing a SmartLock on my garage […in 15º weather], I decided to revisit a shoot from my recent trip to Las Vegas. It was my last day in the city and the final stop on a long 10 day trip that began in Los Angeles. I asked my friend Rachel if she’d like to shoot and she was able to move things around and make time. One of the nicest things about the success of the Dark Pinup NFT release on WAX is that it gave me the ability to do the occasional shoot just for fun. This was one of those shoots.

I shot with Rachel in 2018. A completely different shoot at The Artisan hotel. Our first shoot was great, but it was during a brutal trip. I wasn’t at my best physically, and the session was split between her and a friend. There was also an extremely long make-up change that happened in the middle of the shoot and that kind of drained the creative energy. This time, Rachel met me at my friend Ralph’s speakeasy in Paradise, NV. His home is one of the standout midcentury modern gems of Vegas.

I have a lot more to share from this shoot with Rachel. In fact, our mutual friend Idelsy met up half way through this session. I have photos of Idelsy and Rachel together that are internet break worthy as well. For now, I have to call this a night. It’s going for 3:00a.m. and I have a long day of mirrorpool@mirrorpool illustration to finish for one of our best clients. I’m hoping to find the time to get to new photography tomorrow evening to share here on Hive. For now, have a great night, or day, and stay safe.
