What’s happening, Hive? It’s shortly after the stroke of midnight and I’m lost deep in the throes of WordPress. Kinda sucks! I did this work almost a decade ago and its bringing back all kinds of terrible experiences. Theme and page editors conflicting with one another. It’s brutal. I’m trying to wind down from a long day that included over two hours of bureaucracy at my monthly Norther Green Zone committee meeting. The rest of the night, I really want to avoid getting stressed out or frustrated, so it’s time to reflect on some recent art with a blog post.
This entry will be a behind the scenes summary from my recent shoot with Stephany at my home in Minneapolis. The first edit from this shoot was shared in Sunday’s blog, so if you haven’t read that, it’s worth going back and reviewing the work. This is a look at some of the moments captured during the shoot with my phone. The candid times in between the frames with my Nikon Z6II. It’s been a long while since I’ve shot at home so I had to break out the candles for the first time in several months. All the best antiques, as well.
Stephany and I had shot together at Cervena Fox’s workshop in Las Vegas this past April during Viva. Because of this, we had a familiarity with one another and my shooting style. One interesting difference for me was shooting from the back far more than I typically do. Yes, booty. I almost never shoot backside compositions and this may be because I’m not a butt guy, but it organically happened during this session and I just went with it. I’m really happy with some of the unique perspectives, behind, above and even underneath.
Aside from the entire shoot just being a pleasure to spend time with such a talented, capable model and a wonderful person, I loved feeling like even after 22 years in this medium, I was still finding new angles and approaches. I did feel like I’m still growing, which is a rewarding for someone that dreads stagnation as much as myself. I can’t wait to drill down through this entire dark pinup session.
