All of my Communities; join me!

Hey, Steemit. I’m at @caffetto, trying to sort some feelings. Somewhere over the last day or two, I feel off a cliff with my emotions. I’ve been having disruptive sleep and unable to shake this cranky mood. My ultimate anti-depressant is productivity and since I was able to make a Steemit post last night, I decided to try for one before @tarotbyfergus shows up. Maybe some blogging and Magic: The Gathering will turn things around? Oh! Real quick, big congratulations to my friend @lovejoy for his winning blog post in @anomadsoul and @blocktrades’ “My 2019: Achievements and Failures” contest.

Since @roadscape’s tireless work on rolling out the Communities beta, I’ve been creative a few communities of my own around the topics of interest that keep me active on Steemit. I thought this would be a good opportunity to list those hive channels and encourage my fellow Steemians to join and participate while we’re still in the early days. Nerd alert! Everything outside of “Photography” has a pretty high geek bar of entry. Without further adieu, here’s my Steemit Communities. Join one or two now while we’re still in the open beta period.

Photography

This is a broad community that welcomes any and all photography. I’ve spent the last 20 years developing a style called dark pinup […I even have a book published by @wcpublishing]. That’s me, but there is so much great photography on Steemit. Landscapes, editorial, experimental, erotic, and so on. We already have 41 subscribers to the Photography community, so if you have something to share in any genre, please do!

Comics

This is probably the closest to my heart. Most of you know, comics is what I’m most passionate about. It’s my dream job and the culture I’m most drawn to. There are so many amazing creators on Steemit, like @bryan-imhoff, @drwatson and @sidekickmatt. We also have a great community of enthusiasts like @cryplectibles, @blewitt and @sagesigma. This is the place for comic book creators and collectors.

Minneapolis

Whether you know it or not, Minneapolis has makes up a high percentage of active Steemit users. @caffetto coffee shop in uptown Minneapolis has become something of an incubator for new Steemians. OG’s like @lovejoy, @roadscape, @mada and @robrigo either live or frequent the Twin Cities and are responsible for Steemit adoption of power users like myself, @vermillionfox, @tarotbyfergus and several others. Trial by Comics

For almost two years, I hosted a comics contest called Trial by Comics. It was an excuse for me to commit to drawing and creating comic illustrations once a week. With an unbelievably busy 2019 and the polar bear market, I’ve had to take a break from the contest, but I’m still going to be posting comic-centric blogs from other creators in the industry like I did with Thomas Nachlik, inker for Image Comic’s The Beauty. The contest will return, eventually.

Magic: The Gathering

One day, Steemit’s going to topple the Facebook tower and the it does, I want to be the admin for the most popular MTG Community on the blockchain. Magic: The Gathering is the only real recreation I have in my life. It’s been the cornerstone of some of my greatest friendships in Minneapolis. This is the place to discuss new cards, new expansion sets and new formats like BRAWL and Pioneer. Share photos, deck lists and home brews!

I’m not planning on creating any new Communities as that’ll already be a lot to admin. Are you interested in helping moderate these Communities? Once we’re out of beta, I imagine there’s going to be an explosion of new users to these Communities, others and Steemit in general. Very optimistic for where Steemit is heading in 2020.
