The road heading down to the 12 Apostles beach was just breathtaking and dramatic, rugged cliffs that have been carved out from the sea over millions of years the 12 Apostles are tall limestone rocks that have been shaped out by the wind, sea and erosion over millions of years but as of today there are only 8 Apostles left standing they have been slowly cut down by continuous erosion from the sea water and wind and as you can see the weather was very cloudy and windy the day I was there.
The 12 Apostles is about 270km before reaching the city of Melbourne and our next stop was going to be Apollo Bay which is about 80km away from the 12 Apostles, Apollo Bay looks more like a tropical bay and is well known as a fishing village with the best seafood on the south coastline.
The weather changes by the hour it was windy and cloudy when we left the 12 Apostles by the time we had arrived in Apollo Bay which was in the time space of about 2 hours the weather had broken out sunny and blue skies this is why they call Melbourne the four seasons state but good for us we enjoyed a refreshing swim in the bay and had a great seafood lunch to see us on our way to enjoy more beaches and sceneries along the way.
Leaving Apollo Bay back on the highway heading towards the city of Melbourne we were destine for Warnambool Beach, it was here that we were going to meet some friends that live in Melbourne they were about 70km away from the Warnambool Beach and they were bringing there 2 young kids down for a surf on the beach.
Where most beaches along the southern coastline are rough and choppy only suited for professional surfers Warnambool Beach is the opposite it's a long white sandy beach and a very calm beach suited for younger kids who like to enjoy a bit more of a smoother surf without been dumped, it's great for catching them smaller whitewater waves just perfect for kids wanting to have some fun on the smaller waves.
Warnambool Beach is known as a safe, sheltered beach and surprisingly enough for some reason this beach always has moderate climate, it is here during the months between June and September that the whales choose to come and give birth because it is a safe bay for them and around the beach area there are beautiful parks and gardens were you can bring along your picnic basket and barbecue a few steaks and sausages at the barbecue areas allocated for the public.
Along the Great Ocean Road region of the coastline of Victoria you will find Bells Beach and Logan's Beach these two beaches are the most surfed beaches and is the most popular holiday destination in the summer months they have slowly become a seaside holiday resort because of it's spectacular surf beaches and the charming friendly towns.
We stayed the weekend in Warrnambool town which they actually call a city with a population of 35,000 people a very beautiful clean city been the largest coastal city in Victoria, it's a very vibrant fast growing city where everyone would love to retire because of it's location near many beaches and better climates compared to other cities in Victoria and with sunsets like this it makes you feel like your on a tropical island.
