Hi all,

Nearly twelve years ago, a friend of mine started a blog. It became very successful; in fact, he published a series of books based on this blog, became a household name in his niche and earns a living off of what he loves.

Like many of you, I'm sure, I'd seriously contemplated starting a blog over the years. But where to start? Sure, I had a bunch of ideas, but would people really want to listen to me and what I have to say?

Years later, after building a somewhat successful career through writing, I feel it's time to rise to the blogging challenge. And though I can't say that I have the same lifelong love for the content that my friend had for his blog content (his niche is a lifelong passion), I'm happy to share my thoughts about crypto from the perspective of a noob/newbie with you.

The steps I've gone through to get here:

1. Decide on your general topic - it might sound simple, but this can often be where people get stuck. I literally have thousands of interests (well, hundreds at least). Focussing on one can be tricky. Perhaps "the one" is a bigger topic, a broad theme, something general. In my case, that's crypto.
   But what if you want to go more specific? Then read on;

2. Pick your niche and your audience base/fans - is your general topic a little too all-encompassing? Narrow it down. For my new blog I've focussed on my learnings as a noob/newbie, with a target audience of newbies and enthusiasts who'd like a laugh;

3. Hone your writing style - I've had a lot of practice here. For some, it may mean employing a proofreader (spouse, friend, colleague) and getting some constructive/authentic feedback. Read, read, read pieces that are in the style you'd like to emulate, and copy what they do. Analyse it, join a group, and learn. You can do it!;

4. Choose your platform for publishing - I've gone with a couple for now, including ecency, and I may even branch out into my own website - time will tell!

Other tips:

• Be persistent, good things take time;
• Practice, practice, practice makes progress;
• Have fun - I mean, what's the point if you ain't?;
• Be real - they say you can't polish a turd, and although you may have Grammarly, or an AI robot writing for you, if the content stinks to begin with, it'll stink when it's polished. So remember to get that feedback!
